Comanche camera mount Bracket

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
The wrist camera mount is completly different to the housings we use on our guns. The housing is only to be used for the wrist strap and not actual mounts. The Go-Pro wide is the one you want, though they do a non-wide version too. Both are 5mp. Both versions are below. The only mount you could really use is the roll-bar mount, and put the cam on that, but it would only really work on a pneumatic gun, as it would foul the rubbers on a band gun.

If a bunch of guys in their garden sheds can make a mount in an afternoon, I'm sure the BBC tech dept could knock something up pretty quickly.

I got fed up of the housing been unreliable so converted my wristcam housing to fit the expansion pack. Works a treat

I stand corrected! With a bit of jiggery pokery you can use the wrist mount on a gun.rofl

Almost got the R.I.B cam mount ready for the Sunday Breakwater dive (if it goes ahead).

my 2 cents... emmmm pennies i mean....

if you want a cheap low budget poor quality video then go ahead and buy the gopro or whatever else is in the same league...i myself im using a the camera mask (broken up an mounted on speargun) cause im on a very very very low budget and i only did it for my 'amusement' ....

but you on the other hand, researching for a BBC2 program, which will be broadcasted i guess to the viewers save your self the hussle and get at least a semi-decent quality (resolution-wise) video-camera and appropriate housing. or if money is the problem get a normal camera with decent video capabilities+housing and shoot a video that will be worth shooting and worth to be watched by your viewers.

a low spec camera as the one mentioned is a :rcard:naughty

if you are on the other hand looking only for camera mounts, they are easy to 'construct' and each speargun will 'demand' its own setup, taking in consideration the 'user-spearo' (aiming, loading, camera etc) !!!

I thought we were trying to move from standard def to HD, and not to sub-standard def :blackeye

Best of luck with your tv program (also a quick search on vimeo or youtube will give you plenty of bad quality and good quality examples spearfishing videos) !!!

edit: just pating the link to my setup (the camera was sitting in my aiming line and now i have inverted the Π shaped aluminium part so that the camera sits a bit higher and i have a 'window' , an aiming window if you like from where i can track the fish and aim without obstructions...it also helps to conceal my shining mask lenses ' i think' :) !!!!

Tom, perhaps you could borrow this little baby from your colleagues over on the South Pacific program? Going to be a nice show to see!

Hello All
I m a researcher working on a BBC2 programme called what to Eat
Now. The programme is all about seasonal food and cooking.
In the programme we are looking to feature a number of Sea fish and I am exploring ways in which one can film from the spear fishermans' point of view.
It is my understanding that the Go pro range of cameras are good for this purpose. Obviously a number of you guys have created impressive mounts for you camera.
It would be great if someone could help me with a more generic device that could be affixed to any spear gun. For example has anyone used the Go Pro mount devised for affixing to bike handle bars and the like? Is there any reason this shouldn’t work?

I use the POV1 for windsurfing and mountain biking with water proof pouch

POV H2O Pouch Image Gallery | V.I.O.

Going to try mounting on mask as I do with ski goggles, fantastic system. They say unit only water proof to 3 mt's, but secured in pouch it must be more than that.
Will post when wind drops below force 11.:rcard

Hello again people,

Thanks for the advice and for the videos sent through it was important to see the quality full screen and uncompressed.
We have decided to go with a waterproof lipstick camera, which should give us the desired quality so those of you who were worried about BBC standards should be relieved.
We have a shoot set up for thursday the 21st of May in Newquay. Unfortunately one of our contributors has injured his leg. As such I am very keen to find a replcement spearo and you guys seemed like exactly the people to ask. I realise it is very short notice but if there is anyone located in the newquay (cornwall not Wales)area that is available on Thursday please give me a ring.

Thanks once again for all your help.
I look forward to hearing from some of you.

They were Ben, I circulated it around the LIC club and the BBC got a very experienced Colin Chester (European Spearfishing Supplies) into the bargain. Weather looks amazing for tomorrow down there, just not the most ideal wind conditions.:)
I'm there on Friday....:martial

Just a quick one to post my camera mount, in case it's of use to anyone.

Started with a bulky round the barrel style based on a bike light mount as in the first picture, but it got in the way of loading, so thought putting it further back would be better and came up with this simple bit of bent perspex that goes around the stem of the loading pad and secured with a bolt through both.
