Certainly it is technically possible, and it is also possible Pipin really did it. But nobody cares. First he is not any reference since long long years. And second, in contrary to what you tell, it is going down that is really diffilcult, not going up. If the breath-hold time was really a problem (which is really unlikely), he could have simply used faster sled to cut the time down. So even if he inhaled on the ascent, it barely invalidates the deed.

If I remember correctly, when Pipin did his "official" two-breath dive to 500' he used the spare air on the way down.

Yes, that's right. There is absolutely no point in using air on the way up (unless you have a snail sled or get blocked somewhere).

Just be careful what kind of gun you use for it.
I'm getting reports of accidental, spontaneous going off of some air guns.
I'm compiling a dossier on them now.
Several speros have written to me explaining how when after having loaded them, and tried to tighten up the bungee line retainer on the self release plastic hook connected to the trigger .... their guns just went off!
Investigating whether these cases are just freak occurrences or the result of a manufacturing defect that could cause a fatality anytime.
One of them punched a hole in his boats hull!
Will publish my findings IF the evidence of an inherent high risk of a potentially dangerous malfunction is conclusive and warrants a general warning.

I guess breathing of regular air at such depth has deadly consequences due to high pO2. But usage of hypocsic trimix for inflating balloon's tank can raise a questions.

Not if you're inhaling it on your speedy way up. Surrounding pressure will be rapidly diminishing.
There would be no permanence time or sufficient exposure for the "Paul Bert Effect" (look it up in Wikipedia) to occur which I guess you're trying to refer to.
The proof of this? Just watch it done in the "Cayman Challenge".

Thanks for your confidence in my last post. I'm collecting data and will certainly proceed to address the problem, if there is indeed one, and will share my conclusions and or suggestions. Safety doesn't come second to anything else, at least in my book.
