I had a dream; i dreamt i was swimming with my 'pet' sea-puppy. Each time i go to this dream place, i see my pet sea-puppy.
But this dream became a nightmare... Someone shot my sea-puppy :vangry:rcard:naughty
then i woke up and realised that people do shoot wrasse.
why not if its for the pot. but in a comp?
What i like is when i'm sitting on the bottom and they just swim right up, not a care in the world...
Best left out of the comp imo.
I'm also perplexed by the 'No GPS' rule! doh.
Don’t tar all BSA members with the same brush remember the debate three years ago where the EU almost got spearfishing banned though the back door on an anti whaling law. The BSA as the representing body for spearfishing in this country headed by the then secretary KM led the campaign to get the law overturned. Take a look at what we have achieved over the last few years and you will see we have restricted our catches and award points for every new species. As Colin said if you feel strongly enough come to the meeting keep a level head and help make decisions that will help to keep our sport heading in the right direction.
hi jonny can you tell me y your perplexed about the gps rule i am at the meeting tomorrow i need to know b 4 daveo
Hi jonny, thanks for your input. I see where you're coming from. I will use your views, I will say in my view it's not a safety point on the gps. thanks DaveoHi David, i do realise these are just suggestions and apologise if i came over too strong in my previous opinion!!
With regard to the suggestion of not allowing GPS, i consider it to be a basic bit of safety kit. In the past (in paragliding) i have been involved in quite a few rescues where GPS coordinates have allowed fast and efficient rescues, including myself a few times lol (glad & sad to say!). I pretty much always have it when spearing from the yak and would certainly do so in duplicate from a boat. of course you also need a vhf or phone to pass on coordinates!
From a technological and from a competitive point of view, i struggle to see what advantage one competitor can gain as they are so abundantly available now. But perhaps that's just me. my main issue was one of safety and i would be perplexed by a rule that, in effect, reduces a safety margin.
trouble is, i would probably propose a rule to require a marine vhf to be carried too lol...
I hope the meeting goes well, you have my respect.
Yes, commercial fishing is the real elephant/gorilla in the room. For perspective, all the spearos in Britain combined take far less fish in one year that a single trawler will disgard in a single day.... - if you haven't already done so check this out Fish Fight - Half of all fish caught in the North Sea is thrown back overboard dead
... OMD/Foxy have observed for years the Bass gluttony out in the channel Islands but very few of us know about the Bream trawling etc that has such an impact on shores closer to home.
...
Anyone know the outcome?
well it did go on a bit all had there say common sense won in the end. My words were we wont new members in the bsa let this one pass you have no chance .I hope all my friends on DB much happier now i am cheers all Daveo
