Hey guys.....Been spearfishing around Falmouth/Swanpool area for a few seasons on my own, and would be great to meet up with other people that fish too....I've done ok, but I'm sure theres still loads of room for improvement, and you cant beat learning from others!! If anyone is up for meeting up for a fish, let me know...Have an eight month old daughter, so time is a bit limited, but I'm sure if I'm bringing the odd bass or two home!!.....

Well i headed down late sunday to a little spot near Maenporth.Bit of a walk and sea wasn't too smooth but the viz was around 4m so doable.If there had been anything to shoot.....which there wasn't.Saw a few wrasse,that was it.
Gonesurfing....apnea don't hang around,think my order took 3-4 days.
Kernowdiver,i dive around falmouth now and then,keep checking this thread for dive reports and let us know how your dives get on.I'll be up for a spear for sure when the conditions start getting better and the fish appear.

Had a few dives lately.Went in down on the Lizard yesterday,vis was patchy but 2-5m i guess.Didn't see any bass or mullet,just a few chunky wrasse and a couple of spider crabs.Managed a couple of hours until i got cold.Tonight i had a look at Maenporth after work.Tide was already pretty high but i thought sod it and got in there anyway.Vis was great....8m plus in some places.Had a good look about but again didn't see anything to shoot.....couple of big wrasse and one solitary pollock hanging out with them.Got cold quick too.
Nice though,if the winds stay in the north west it might be worth a look later in the week.I'm sure this time last year there was plenty of mullet about.Where are they all?

I am currently sitting in my honeymoon apartment overlooking Looe harbour! Viz looks great alas have not brought my gear as am saving brownie points for Guernsey Holiday roflrofl. Will be going on glass-bottomed boat tomorrow over to Polperro, will count the bass I see!
Might get in for a test of the gun this week at meanporth vis looked great this morning . But my stuff hasent come form apnea yet !! O and i brought a mask but no snorkel:head .

should i leave my surf and spearing suits here when i come over and buy new ones there?
getting all the documents together now.....tedious work....not sure if i need any injections before we come either and i cant find out about it anywhere on the net....

Water temps are similiar to Capetown, so the same suits are needed. 5mm spearing suit, 3/2 summer surf suit, 5/3 winter surf suit
I dont think you need to have any injections, but you might have to go in quarantine for a while
I got in for my first dive of the year near Falmouth last thursday. Got a nice bag of scallops and saw a few thornbacks, but nothing else to report.

Have you had your Cider-cosious injection yet?
Cider poisoning can be a real problem over here, it can drive a perfectly sane man wild in the mater of only a few hours. Just ask Spaniard he’s more than qualified on the subject.:friday:fridayroflrofl

Shot for the info guys....cider poisoning...hmmm i read the guernsey holiday thread...seems cider is number 1 there......looks like some decent viz in some photos....(thread was a good read btw).....i pictured spearing there as pea soup viz most of the time.....anyone got any good photies of the viz....underwater ones would be shweet....or know of any good websites to see some photos...

It seems my reports are not in vain after all,hoorah!
Scooted down to Swanpool tonight for a look.....vis looked crystal clear so i got in there and almost straight away got a flatty.Swam out to the point and it was just lovely,string weed is coming on strong,saw plenty of wrasse and pollock.....still no bass or mullet though but no worries,it was just plain nice to be in there.
Bloody cold though,roll on summer.

As for needing any jabs as far as I can remember No. I moved from Durbs 9 years ago and didnt need any.

Well done Badlander what weights do you use if D were do you get them from. because in a stupid ,i want to go out tomorrow i brought a nylon weight belt and H weights i need some were that sells d weights and rubber belt and apnea sent a bandit mask instead of a alien. Also how much weight do i need on average the "Dive"
