I got in last night for a few hours on the north coast. Vis was good up to 10m+ in places, but sometimes down to about 5m. Nice evening to be in the water.
Same spot I was at 9 days and similar state of tide. A big differece in the activity. A lot more fish about. Far more Pollack and Wrass, including the biggest wrass I've ever seen, I'd estimate about 8lb+. Saw quite a few mullet and somehow managed to miss a shot at a good one that looked around 3-4lb. Don't know how I missed, what a dork!
Also spotted my first Bass of the season. One shy loner that I would have liked a shot at, but didn't get it, and a pair of schoolies.
Also seemed to always be swimming within a shoal of small fish that I assume were sardines. Mostly around 6" with a dark thin lateral stipe. Thousands of them.
Didn't take anything but enjoyed the time in the water.

Had a quick dip this morning before work, spent alot of time swimming in a sandeel soup! the little blighters were everywhere. The sea is now teaming with life, however, the bigger bass and mullet are still hiding from me. Took a smallish bass for tea. Could have stayed in all day.
Well it turns out a 7mm suit may well be too much! My new Elios looks fantastic but its very restrictive, maybe a little too tightA shame to put it mildly
Did you get a MTM, why did you choose 7mm?
Sounds like people have been getting some good diving in.
Similar reports here, dived the same N coastspot for the past two evenings, sand eel soup would be a good way to describe it! Great floating around with them watching the pollack pick them off from below. Saw the biggest shoal of bass i've ever seen as well, must have been coming on for 100 fish. Got buzzed by them most dives. Found a sleepy dogfish/catshark on the sand that didn't seem to mind some photos.

I got a 7mm over the winter. It was really tight and restrictive for the first 4 or 5 dives but has loosened up and is now fine, although sure it's a bit bulkier than my 5mm. I've been getting in since March, and am still wearing it - not time for the 5mm yet. I'd say give it a good few dives Padaxes and it will probably become more accomodating. Either that or eat more lettuce.
I got in by Falmouth vis 3 to 6m, not many fish seen one bass 2lb ish which I just watched. Breath holds weak, like 30sec weak embarrassing, also got sinus pain and a weird swelling pain in the back of my head?

Had a nice little dive on a North Coast fave spot the other day.. not many bass about tho.. played hide n seek with a pollack that must have been at least 5 or 6 lbs but he evaded me in the end! Came home with one nice lobster and a flatfish from the sands for the missus. Vis must have been 10-15m at best. BBQ at sunset.. sweet.
For those not who havn't heard the latest from the top spearos further up the south cost I suggest you keep an eye on this page (Crystal Vis Dorset Ltd | Facebook), Titus from Crystal Vis and the Portland boys slaying epic bass up to 17lbs, smashing UK and world records.. bumping into sharks and all sorts. Just thought I'd mention it.. its always good to see big fish coming from the UK!

Hi guys,
I'm not new to spearing, but I am new to the area. I've just moved to Plymouth and I've had a bit of a break for the last 2 years from spearing cos I lived in Weston super mare... I crossed over to Torpoint on the ferry the other day, and those cornish beaches are looking very inviting! Anyway, gave my kit a check yesterday and can't wait to get wet in the next week or two! If anyone needs a buddy (rusty and not quite match fit but I'm sure the best way to return to form is to crack on and spear) then feel free to get in touch!

Just popped over from the DOrset thread. I have a friend visiting for the day and we want to have a dive but the viz by us is shocking, any viz cornwall way? I am thinking north coast Port Quinn area as a likely destination but anywhere considered. Obviously would rather get some confirmation before using all my fuel up!

what camera is it?It's a sony wx5, a little compact camera. Got an ikelite housing for it as well.
Really pleased with it. It has a really wide angle lens which is great for getting shots right up close to things, although it does make everything else look a bit far away! It has a manual white balance setting as well which is handy if you are diving a bit deeper.

The 2 week spell of offshores and small surf were painful, as I knew I couldn't,t get in. Now the surf has picked up and the frustration continues as still unable to get in.
3 weeks ago got my foot stuck in a hydraulic lorry lift! Crushed a toe which they seem to have saved, but still unable to get it wet. Now waiting for the nail bed to heal over! Just hoping that fins are not to painful. Live and learn!! Reminded me of all the dangerous stuff we do daily that can ruin the fun stuff we do at the weekends!!
Wear your toe caps, your safety glasses, chainsaw trousers and enjoy the weekends. I was lucky so accepting it as a reminder.
