I got out this morning for an early one before work thinking there could be a bass on the cards at dawn.
wrong
Oh well, did find a good 34cm John Dory which I'm about to fillet for dinner.
You can judge me if you want for shooting a JD (easy targets etc etc) but they're delicious and that's what we do this for right? Plus he was tucked up under a rock at 9m and I got up at 4.30am - certainly not as easy as going to the fish monger
Vis was a milky 4-6m - usual low tide cloudyness but nothing particulate ie plankton/algae so all in all, happy dive. Just a fearful lack of fish :/

This is kind of worthy of its own post, but just to say I did the AIDA 2 star with Saltfree Divers over the weekend at the NDAC at Chepstow. After doing the course, it seems obvious that this
should be on the radar of anyone who seriously spearfishes. The course offers so much in the way of safety, physiology, equalization, experience, the sharing of knowledge and enthusiasm, and of course getting to know your limits in a safe environment. If you've not done a course, you really should consider it. I went up there on my own knowing nobody and felt very welcomed even as a complete rookie. As far as spearfishing is concerned the program will help you realise your deep diving potential and teach you how to do this safely with a buddy. How often have you wanted to go deeper but were unsure? Now's the chance, really can't fault it at all, and the facilities are amazing too. Hot showers and a cafe serving hot food on site, a dedicated freediving platform, clear water to 82m deep with amazing visibility and buddies you can trust. Personally I managed a meagre PB of 16m - probably double what I ever usually dived to before (it sounds deeper in feet, 53.3ft)
get on it!
