I saw a movie called "Blue Crush." It was a movie about young chicks in bikinis, can't remember if their was a story line, nor did I care. But I was amused at their reference to speedos as "nut huggers."

I wear them because I support the theory that the only people who wear speedos are the ones that shouldn't.

No one in the UK (apart from real serious freedivers and I know most of them) wears speedos.

Uh oh..... no-one told me this :mute Well at least the boys back home will be pleased that I threw out my old pair and invested in new ones (the old ones were purchased in 1991 and were....tired, shall we say). It was a hard decision but was made easier when the wife did it while I wasn't looking.

Banana Hammock, Nut Huggers?

In Australlia they were Budgie Smugglers :D

Budgie Smugglers, never heard that one, over here in the West they are known as "cock jocks."

However speedoglyn posted this thread about the dangers of holding your breath, after which it turned into the best freediving cartoon character and finally a discussion on speedos.

Back to the original subject.

If you hold your breath for too long you will eventually faint, then your body will take over it's natural function and you will start breathing again, you will come around and no harm will be done.

If you are one of those silly buggers that wants to see how long you can hold your breath under water you will faint and drown.

Many people die every year from strangulation. Holding your breath is therefore very dangerous if someone else is doing it for you.

Cheers Mia that's one person on my side! Now can we stop mentioning bananas cos its very embarasing I want to discuss useful things like how to go further down and still come up and not get water in me nostrils and other useful items..

PS I get the feeling most of the girls on here are sex maniacs thats ok by me and I agree the posts are getting off topic a bit There was a guy on TV who practiced underwater meditation in the public pool in the lotus position Id like to try that too

a good breathhold performance technique i have found is playing the yidaki (didgeridoo). It takes a while to master circular breathing but stick with it. I have found that it strengthened my diaphragm, improved my breathhold, improved my breathhold concentration and has also helped me to deal with the pain of contractions.
You have to play it all the time andfor as long as you can, not just a steady note but go nuts and make beats and australian animal noises, Listen to Xavier Rudd for inspiration.
peace

I have no idea of who you are but any real man should be able to wear his banana hammock (speedos) with style ;) .

rofl rofl rofl oh mia rofl

i agree with you - nothing nicer than a nicely packed lunchbox.

Hey guyz this is MY thread, i wanted to know sumthing serious! youve put me off speedos now cos everyons going to b looking at me or so I think im sticking to watershorts, I guess youll pick fault with those, im always frightened theyll float off when theyre full of water so I tie the cord real tight...end of subject!!!!!

OK addition to my post, Ive just joined another discusion group all about weight training and muscle toning, but in the new members page they were all rude about me saying I was skinny!! So I take everthing back and would much rather have comments about my clothing than my physiqe which were even more embarasing.

That's no way to treat a newbie! :vangry

I haven't come across anything like that on Deeperblue.

Sorry Speedoglyn

Sometimes I forget that I'm exceptionally good looking and built like Mr Universe and could upset a skinny dude in a pair of knacker knickers.

I will be sure to watch what I'm saying in future and try and remember that not everyone can be a stud like me.
