DeeperBlue.com is hosting a Member Meet during Fri 3rd August - Sun 5th August 2012 in Guernsey - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guernsey"]Guernsey - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

Schedule
Open to all, the weekend will be filled with diving, member socials and fun activities for all the family. The plan is still taking shape but current schedule includes:

  • Friday 3rd - Introduction Night on Herm Island (7pm onwards)
  • Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th - Specimen Hunt & Spearfishing Competition, Freediving and Scuba diving opportunities
  • Saturday 4th - Social Meet (Drinks and Food) in the evening
There is plenty to see on Guernsey & driving around the island is fun!

Accommodation Options
We had hoped to be able to offer a host hotel to keep the whole group together, however hotels are being slow at responding and we are conscious that people want to book accommodation. Here are some options on the island:

There are also a number of Camping Options - Guernsey Campsites and and Caravan Sites

Registration
Please go to the registration page to register for the event - http://www.deeperblue.com/uk-member-meet-2012/

That's right folks you can come & visit sunny Guernsey, dive the bays or offshore reefs with other DB members or just enjoy the beautiful island & get drunk!

We want to make sure this will be a fun packed weekend with activities to suit everyone :)

So subscribe to this thread & watch out for more info...

That's great mate, there are some big 9.6mt tides over the weekend with low tide around 3pm so nice & convenient for some low tide flatfish hunting!

We hope to get everyone across to Herm for one evening, Herm is a tiny island with a restaurant & a pup but no cars.
We get on the little ferry for the 20 min trip across the most beautiful strip of sea, eat, drink & be merry before getting dropped back in town so you young guys can show Podge how to boogie in the clubs :D

Some of the activities might be adult themed (like drinking with Podge) but of course families are welcome :)

Crikey Grantl, just think you wouldn't even need your wet suit!

Sounds great! I learned to spearfish in Guernsey when I was a teenager with my dad who was a Guernseyman, so I'd love to go back. Will have to see how finances pan out...

I'm on for that. But will have a third addition to the family by then. My eldest won't want to come he's 19 and has better teenager things to do, but will have the misses an 11 year old and and a 5 month old intow. We have a campervan so would like to take that across.

Hopefully it would be suitable.

Matt, it would be great to see you.

Lee, bad news I am afraid as campers are not allowed in Guernsey!
I must be some stupid law but, although you can drive them on the roads you are not allowed to park up & sleep in any vehicle - not even in a campsite!

No campers...hotel/B&B owner influence, perhaps?

Was thinking of taking an early holiday this year, to avoid the Olympic boondoggle :D.

Weymouth might get busy with the sailing events (but will they even be visible from shore?). I think some of the Channel Island ferries go from there (and Poole) don't they?

As of last year you can bring campervans over. You need to get a permit from one of the campsites to show be able to flash at the boat people before they'll let you on though. They were banned previously because our narrow road are not really suited to them.

More info and links to the campsites here: Motorhome News -> Guernsey now open to motorhomes. The campsites will be the best people to get the full details about the permits from.

Yes Mr X, boats come here from both Poole and Weymouth, and Portsmouth as well.. More info (our only ferry operator so don't bother trying to shop around): Ferries to France, St. Malo, Brittany, Jersey, Guernsey and the UK with Condor Ferries

I would love to dive there on a legendary 10m tide!!
Need to see how a few things pan out first.

Cool, cheers for that, I'll look into it further. No problem with the size of my camper; it's just a standard small vw transporter.
