And then there’s the “filter in turn” that’s a bit of a laugh:):), no roundabouts on Guernsey.

That's great mate, there are some big 9.6mt tides over the weekend with low tide around 3pm so nice & convenient for some low tide flatfish hunting!

We hope to get everyone across to Herm for one evening, Herm is a tiny island with a restaurant & a pup but no cars.
We get on the little ferry for the 20 min trip across the most beautiful strip of sea, eat, drink & be merry before getting dropped back in town so you young guys can show Podge how to boogie in the clubs :D

Whats the point of an island with no cars?

How can the local kids go joy riding in stolen cars if there is none?

Its this sort of lack of provision for the youth of today that leads to all of the problems in later life!

The filters are a nightmare, i wait ages sometimes for another car to arrive so that i can take my turn!

you mean your turn to shoot out in front of him at the last moment, I know all you English are the same!!

it be some experience to get ... start working on family members - NEW SUMMER HOLIDAY PLAN :D

Guys, I know some of you are keen to get things booked up but, we are just trying to get some hotel deals sorted & finalise a few things so hang on a bit.....

Mart, have you or anyone spoken to the fishing shops [that sell spearo kit] to see if they would be interested in sponsoring? if not then would you like me to? or is it DB only sponsor? Happy to help, but I will be away the week before...

If people want to bring their sot kayaks then i would be happy to show some spots to yak dive.

Way hay Mike, its going to be a blast mate...
I hope we can get you guys some more details about accommodation in the next few days.
It would be great if we can sort out a single host hotel & that is what we are aiming at..

Folks we are still sorting the official hotel and the full schedule will be published in a couple of months but for now the weekend is set and not going to change. Rough agenda is as per original post.

If people are worried about hotel accommodation and don't want to wait then we understand and go ahead and book your own. We will be sorting out the host hotel details shortly but do understand that it is high season and we are getting people impatient for more info :)

Bear with us - we are trying to get all details together but it takes a little time as there will be multiple things going on over the weekend :)

Looking forward to it and meeting lots of DB members!

Hi guys we are on the case & although we have not actually struck a deal with the hotels in question things are getting closer!
Of Course if any one wants to organise things on their own that's fine but, don't you think it would be nice if we can all stay at the same venue?

Lets hope I can get enough lobsters to feed all you people...

Bl**dy hell mate, that's one hell of a haul of lobsters! Were they all by hand or do you use pots? And was that a recent catch?

I have family in Guernsey so I'll be staying with them (can't afford a hotel either) but I can't wait for the diving. I haven't dived in Guernsey for nearly 20 years!

Well I have a few pots & I can normally get two lobsters on demand by diving however I have friends with lots of pots!
I would think I cook about 90-110 lobsters a year, most I buy them but I might get about 30 a year myself.

I have been sent a few mails regarding any spearfishing competitions that might take place..

We would like to have a specimen hunt style competition on the Saturday but if anyone wants to discuss this further please go ahead.

Also we are considering a further competition on the Sunday based on Silver fish..

However the weekend does not have to be all about spearfishing & certainly nobody is obliged to fish in any comps we have.
We want this to be fun more than anything else :D

Alright - I'll show my ignorance now :)
Never entered a spearing comp before - is a specimen hunt aka a species hunt? Ie. most no. different species? Whatever it is I'll have a crack - but personally don't intend wrasse or doggie bashing etc. if its a numbers game.

I reckon on spending as much time as poss in the water on Sat. Sunday on the other hand may be a bit more chilled depending on just how much fun is had on Sat night :)
Ideally a morning hunting Silver Fish on the Sun would be great as I don't get the chance to hunt them too often.
My wife's coming with me as well now - I think there was some concern I wouldn't come home if the spearing is good !

Really looking forward to it.

Grant

Didn't notice this till now but I'm sure the fat controller* will make it down there so I'd love to come !

The idea around a specimen hunt it to avoid killing any unwanted fish.
So you would need to hunt the specified fish & winner is the one who catches the largest number of different species.
IE prime eating fish like Bass, Mullet, plaice, mackerel, Pollock sole etc...
Jay that would be great...

Foxy, just to be devils advocate and if someone is reading this wondering but not saying...
What is going to happen to all the fish?
If people travel from far, they surely wont be taking it all back with them?
If you have 40 spearo's that catch 15fish each over the weekend that 600 fish?

Donante any leftovers to a hotel or something?
