Ha ha wishful thinking Bob.
I am thinking more like 15 spearos but you will only be able to weigh in one fish of each species anyway.
What has happened in the past is folk traveling by boat have just taken back fillets of fish either frozen or fresh in a cool bag.

Bob makes a good point. I hope that a limited speccie list, together with suitable speccie hunt/silver fish rules, will limit excess catches. Personally i hope for blue skies and calm winds, and a big BBQ on the beach for everyone to cook their catch. That would be amazing :)
I have a 2 big freezers otherwise :) :)

Bob, you going to join us? do you have an Irish meet planned for this year?

Perfect lads, that will set some minds at ease!
I'd love to make it over, and I gotta see how things pan out first. I'm writing crazy in order to submit my phd theses for june. Then taking a chiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiillllllllllouuuuuuuuuuuuuutttttttttt holiday with family. Then next on the agenda is a representing Ireland at the World kendo champinoships in Italy.
If I can get away with it I will be over, but with everything else on I really can't plan that far ahead... one day for sure!

Not sure about any big Irish meets, we tend to watch the weather and just have impromptu meets? last year we had a few as the weather was so crap we had to travel for viz so we met up.

Hoepfully feargus is panning a few with freedive Ireland and there was a notion of an overnight Island camping / diving weekend which sounds cool!

This is a really good idea what ye boys are plannin, and the comp might put some people off. Stating what will be done with the fish and that there will be no waste is a very big bonus :)

Folks - please make sure you email/facebook/twitter/PM people you think might be interested and point them in the direction of this thread. People like apneaboy, feargus, etc... i'm keen for a big freediving and spearo contingent, lots of diving and lots of partying!

Unfortunately we have still not established a base Hotel however, we will announce some more info on Monday evening regarding hotels...

Camping on Guernsey.....

There are three camp sites, all are reputed to be good but the Fauxquets is the best (all Guernsey French pronunciations I am afraid) however it is also the furthest from town & the sea. (£20 taxi from town)
The Vaugrat is only 200mt from the beach & again quite far from town. (£17 taxi from town)
Le Bailloterie is the most conveniently located to town & 1/2 mile from the sea. (£10 taxi from town)
Ask away any questions about camping & I will try to help.

Announced possible accommodation options on the first post everyone. Sorry for the delay.

For info, the peninsula hotel is in an excellent location for spearo access...

Yes Jonny is right there.

We have selected the best hotels for the purpose but there may be others offering a good deal however some can be pretty awkward to get to especially if you need a taxi late at night!

I think I know every hotel on the island so please don't book anything suspiciously cheap without checking with me first!

Now is a great time to book up though, as we dont have many hotels.

August will see virtually every room taken so it is important to book early.

Look on line for package deals with flights or boat cost included.
Feel free to pm me if you want to check out a deal.

Guernsey is not as cheap as it was but, we dont have any VAT so certain things are very good value.
Most consumables are close to English prices like beer, wine, cloths etc but cameras, jewelry, perfume & petrol are cheaper.

We have World class restaurants & some are surprisingly cheap!
Lots of Hotels & town restaurants offer three course 'early bird' meals for £10-14 & then same venue will be charging double or treble after 7.30pm.

Of course if you want to come a few days either side of the weekend please do - come for a week or more if you like ;)

I will give a quick opinion on the suggested hotels.....

The Peninsular Hotel is on our north west coast & situated right next to one of the most popular spearfishing beaches in Guernsey (about a 50mt walk to the spot)
The hotel is on the main coast road & bus route.
Overall - a nice hotel with nice food & a fantastic location for sea lovers. There is a pub just across the road too.

St Pierre Park Hotel was at one time a 5 star hotel & it still has lots of facilities including a 9 hole golf course, now a 4 star but still a very nice hotel!
The hotel is within walking distance of St Peter Port & pretty Central in the Island.

Duke of Normandy is a lively hotel right in the middle of town but away from traffic noise, There is parking & a popular bar, an interesting & quaint hotel very good if you like nightlife!

I will be back later with more info....

Le Friquet Country Hotel, is another central hotel, well known locally for its falcon carvery. (not for foodies but fantastic value)
Clean budget hotel, best for car owners.

I have thought of another one ... The Piette hotel, overlooking Herm Island & France on the horizon. Right on the road but, very conveniently located with the sea on your doorstep.
Seafront 3 star hotel. La Piette Hotel St. Peter Port Guernsey.

Where is everyone staying at the moment? Need to decide where Mr and Mrs Smurf stay!

My wife and I were looking at St Pierre hotel on Mon night and it looked like a brilliant deal. Went to book it today and it's nearly doubled in price :-(
Amazingly some places we've tried are fully booked already for Aug!
I'm keeping an eye on booking. com to see if the St Pierre offer appears but ideally It'd be good to find out where others are staying as well.

Cheers

Grant

I know a bunch staying at the Duke of Normandy already so am giving that serious consideration but am worried about the hangover :)

I think there are three Jersey guys booked in the Friquet rather than the Duke.
St Pierre Park would be a good one but the truth is Guernsey is so small we can meet up pretty easy no matter where you stay.
I will have a hunt on the net to see if I can find anything...

Honestly i'm not worried about where we stay - more interested in where others are staying for the social aspect :)

Just booked St Pierre Park for £214 for me and my wife for 2 nights, incl breakfast through booking.com.
Its worth keeping an eye on the site as Ive noticed the price has varied from £200 to an eye watering £390 for exactly the same deal over the last week.

Great news Grant :thankyou nice hotel.
If you can just get over in time for Friday night that would be fantastic.
It all gone a bit mad on the accommodation scene at the moment with the filming of http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=potato+peeler+society&tag=deeperbnet-21 stating in April.
Kate Winslet is the star of a multi million £ block buster being film on the Island & we are expecting the American fans in there thousands LOL
