Deepest freedivers of the world

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
The extreme fast ascent may be a good idea, but you really would need to slow down somewhere around 25m to the surface to reduce DCS risk.

80 meters ascent in 45 seconds? Jeebus...What kind of fin is he using?

Congratulations to Andy Norlander :friday

Bill, i think that he find out a new technic to equlize ears while come down .. 1/2sec =1meters.. perfect!

Sedate
In Andy's case, it's magic ears. He doesn't have to equalize, just open the E-tubes and go for the bottom. When he got to mask squeeze depth he switched to no mask and we'll have to wait to see how far that will take him. Then, in theory, when he removes the nose clip, equalization is removed as an obstacle a la Patrick Musimu. Wearing fins and mask is starting to look ancient.

Freedivers that have been past 65 with bifins. (26)
(training and competition, according to the rule "of the day")
Pipin Fereras
Jaques Mayol
Umberto Pelizzari

Josef Zbynek, Czech Republic did 70m CWT (in 2:15 min) with plastic bifins recently during the Bizzy Blue Hole Competition 2008, and took so the second place. From his description of the dive it is apparent that the fins were not the reason he could not go deeper, but rather the equalizing that he needs to master better (it was his first depth competition)

Results here: Freedive in Dahab april 2008
And his article (in Czech) about the competition here: AIDA CZ - freediving, nádechové potápìní

Someone needed to knock the dust off this thread...

May I be inducted into the 80m+ bi-fins club? :)

Wonderful Kurt! - my hat off to you!

Looks like you also went for a speed-record, pretty fast pace.

And that conversation at the surface!
