DNF technique / rules

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
When surfacing you should always keep kicking with your legs. If you stop kicking your blood pressure will drop. I can confirm from extensive experiments that continuing to kick will pull you out of a certain samba.

Hi,

FRC dive (E-dives; E for `empty´) have, as their sole aim, the purpose of overcoming the conflict between the O2-conserving dive response and the O2-consuming exercise response. They are only a simulation tool for overcoming buoyancy, or maybe a fast track to fitness. They are not for the expectation of swimming great horizontal distances per se. It is silly to do distance swimming (dynamics; as if diving down wasn't dynamic!) on empties.

The energy conflict arises because of the buoyancy problem at the start of a dive which requires that you work against the forces pushing you up. Goind down is not (energetically) the same as going up; far from it actually. If you do dives for distance then the safest way to do them is to start of with a static, so as to firmly establish the DR, then rollover into a swim. Once this is accomplished you can swim in greater safety, but I would not recommend swimming outright unless you know exactly what your doing. I know P. Musimu was playing around with empties because of his concerns with DCI (I know this because he told me). I suspect this is what happened to him.

Best
