Dorset Spear Fishing 2010

I'm wondering if anyone could help.

I've got a family affair on Friday morning in Salisbury and I reckon I can get away with a quick trip South to Dorset ish coast for a couple of hours shore dive before coming back to North Cornwall Don't mind walking and I can just about cope with paying for parking as it's a special occasion.

I would love a pm, discretion assured and of course it is a one off visit as I wont be going back in a hurry !

I'd have it with boat cover but not playing with the drift...I just cant see the point of putting youself at risk as its so shear on the coastline here....I have been in the Wessex BSA comp up against the rock of the shore with a serious current not much more than a metre or two off the rock tickling you for a ride out into the Channel.......just my opinion...have a chat with Paul about the area as I am sure he has swum a few.

Was out in the boat yesterday. On my way back into Poole I could hardly believe my eyes: a couple of clueless muppets diving about 20 - 30 meters out into the small boats channel, parallel to the training banks, just waiting to get themselves sliced up by a prop.

They had floats out but were difficult to see in the chop - I only spotted them at the last moment and was only aware of what they actually were because, obviously, I do the sport myself.

I went back to warn them how much danger they were in but they didn't seem particularly interested (I couldn't quite hear their replies).

I left them to it, but spearfishing like that, in that position, it's only a matter of time before they end up at each other's funerals - and I don't think I'm exaggerating here either: a lot of other people, in much bigger, faster boats than mine, are unlikely to be aware of what they are, and are only interested in burning back to the harbour as quickly as possible.

Hi all,

managed to take a dip yesterday evening and test the new go pro lens. Really happy with the result, it has totaly sharpened up the focus problem. To anyone thinking of purchasing the Go Pro HD just buy the camera naked then purchase the housing from Sartex industries, who will still garentee to 60m. This will save you all the hassel of messing about with the focus fix problem, which I'm sure Go Pro will eventually get around to fixing!



Bass was 45cm and tasted great. Also took a place and mullet. Role on the next session.

Scott the Camera and housing cost £268 but I then had to buy the new housing from Sartex for the focus fix which was 130 dollers, ouch!! That's why I suggest buying the camera naked (without housing) then ordering the focus fixed housing saving $$$.

Now I just need to work out how to transcode the image to fill the screen any ideas??

took a nice photo over sanbanks a couple of days ago, which i thought i would share! plus a pic of some bass from yesterday - biggest 7lb, smallest 2lb (47cm!)

Nice fish dave fins are sweet too!

Scott I use a program called Super to the transcode the footage into something that my editor (avs4you) can read then I publish it, I thinks the problem lies in the transcoding.

Anyone know anything about Lump Suckers (i.e.: can I eat them?)?

I saw a pair (male and female) about a month or so ago in Worbarrow Bay - just had a bit of delayed reaction in mentioning it.

Here's an even more delayed reaction: I saw a sunfish in the same bay, about a year ago!

That area seems to attract exotic fish, for some reason.
