Evening all, decided its time to dust off the old typing finger and get some posts on. Its been far too long since my last post even though I have been keeping an eye on what's been happening and theres been some good reports recently.
Any early reports of the sea state around Portland? Need to try to squeeze a dive tomorrow permission pending.

Hi All
I have a Omer Shardana Surface Board that needs to go to a good home I don't want to sell it so offer it to out for free. It is well used but has plenty of life left in it. Could do with a new cover around £50 but not essential. Please pm me if you would like it. Collection only. I am Spearing in Portland or Swanage tomorrow if that helps.
I will try to place a photo below but no promises it will work.
Paul was first out of the block. Well done.

hi guys went out thurs night and managed to shoot this good size bass. went to the same spot last night but nothing seen. meybe got the tide wrong.
oh yeah sorry i am quite new to deeper blue and had a different user name. i was comanche killer but then realised that kev's user name was similar . sorry kev. if any ov you guys has heard ov a nobby through othree that is me. i work there upstairs building the suits.
Good effort mate, sometimes they are about sometimes they are not - I don't think there is any exact guidline. High or low, spring or neap there is no definite times when they around or not unfortunately!
Thinking of a trip down tomorrow but the winds are looking quite strong :head

I am a scubadiver and freediver but my passion is spearfishing
I'm looking forward to meet some lockal spearos and go out together for a hunt.

Right then guys, here's a slightly unusual question for you. I was flying my paraglider along the coast above the sea around Eype and West bay at around 600ft for a couple of hours yesterday morning. Lovely flight. I spent a lot of time looking at the sea and wondering if the visibility would be any good (spearfishing stuff was in the car but I ran out of time because I was enjoying my flying too much!). The water was evidently very murky for about 100ft out from the shoreline and then it looked pretty clear - I could clearly see the reefs and sand from my birdseye viewpoint.

So what I'm wondering is whether you get reasonable visibility further out even on pretty choppy rough days when the sea along the shoreline is all murky and soupy? Are there days when I might have been able to go spearfishing when I have turned up at the sea only to turn back and go home?

Blimey!, what a way to get a vis report.
If I'm right the wind would nave been pushing inshore there yesterday so I would guess the colour is the silt and sand from the stones where it was a strong wave.
Interesting thought though that you could get out the back of it but would the wave be too much?

Hello all - as per last year (and the ones before 
) the LIC will be hosting the pairs competition down at the O'Three facilities in Portland on Saturday the 9th July. This is not a regular comp and is based on specimen fish only - but moreover it is a good laugh with a BBQ and something to drink after.
Last year we had 60 competitors and 100 people at the BBQ.
You can fish anywhere in the UK during the day as long as you weigh-in at 4pm.
There will be some great prizes and a raffle with some superb items to win. If you are interested please see my post http://forums.deeperblue.com/uk-ireland/91087-2011-lic-pairs-comp.html#post848069

Brett the Pikey is having car problems, he hit a deer at about 60mph and then got stopped by the old bill while dapping along at 115mph, and believe it or not the lucky bugger got let off!!!!!!!
Oh and I reckon Bryn is just back from the med and playing with the oil rigs.
