Dorset Spear Fishing 2011

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.

Can anyone help? I am after replacement rubbers for a pair of Omer Pagaso fins, also in need of one of the plastic clips that holds the foot socket over the rubber strips.

Can't find them anywhere............... any pointers greatly appreciated

HI All,

Dived Portland Race with my good budy Titus at the weekend. Not much caught as even we had to give in to the weather! It got a bit interesting in the massive waves! LOL However, Titus did see a 25lb Dentex at about 22mtrs!!! I saw some nice Pollock at about 18mtrs, but no chance of a shot. Titus is back looking for Dentex this weekend, sadly my band are playing and I can't do a day at sea followed by a 2 hour rock set! Must be my age! LOL

What are the band called? Where are they playing? What's a 'Dentex'?

Dentex tastic! Don't let Brett back up here, he's bound to nail one!

Bob - sorry for the late response, we fished the Beara and what a special place it is! All shore fishing but the weather last week was windy so the swell made things awkward. There is such a range of deep and shallow water, rock and sand etc. Lots of species caught including pollack, huss, codling, bass, conger, sea trout (on mackerel strip!) and flounder. No ray surprisingly. I won't mention specific spots in case I mention someone's hotspot!

I would love to return and dive some of the places, the vis was exceptional at times.

Had a nice dip at sunrise today on the East side of Portland.

Saw quite a few good size mullet but couldn't get quite close enough to get a shot off. Missed a decent bass, but bagged a nice mullet which is now filleted and waiting to be eaten for tomorrow's dinner. :p

Lee and Nobby arrived just before I got out (was starting to get a bit chilly after 2 and a half hours in with leaky gloves and boots). Any luck guys?

Hi,
Me and my buddy went to Tyneham yestarday midday. Finned 2.5 hours in milky waters. Vis was from 1 to 2m and close to W. Tout cliff in shallow up to 4m. Seen few Mullets and lots of small Pollacks. Water is still warm - 14 deg.
Over a reef slope in 5-6m deep water I saw a shadow of big fish about (0.8 - 1.0m long) but could do nothing. Even cannot say what a kind of fish was it.
Today we go to Mupe Rocks by boat and hope the vis is better. Should be, at least.

Well done on the mullet mate. We didn't manage to nail anything in that spot; but did see some good mullet, gars and bass; vis was just not helping matters.

Moved to a harbour spot where I nailed a bass of about 2-3lb within seconds of getting in. Nobby nailed a 6lb mullet!!!. We did see some very big bass and mullet. Finished the day shivering our nuts off and being dragged along the fleet tidal race swimming in 'Fizzy orangade' looking at nice rocks, anemonies, some ducks, oyster catchers, some dinghy's, shore crabs, rusty drink cans, gas cylinders, bottles, empty scallop shells and finally some nice dog walkers; a very enjoyable dive! wil be going back as soon as time allows; really want to nail that rusty beer can I'm sure it was well into pint size.

Mupe Rocks done. Vis was from 5 to 8m! Temp. of the water 14deg! Seen several Mullets but only one taken - 2.15kg

sorry my mistake . didnt mean to break rules. i am not good with computers so my knolage is very little. if there is a way to remove my post if i can be told how to i will do so straight away.
