Dorset Spear Fishing 2012

I agree! The sun comes out just long enough to get your hope up before running of again.

Doesn't seem to be many good size fish around either. I have a week off in September. I hope by then we are all seeing more sun and fish!

Also, who was it saying we had a Dorset Mako? Maybe I don't want to go back in anyway?

Went in last Wednesday, had an eventful dive and ended up with my first & second Lobster and a handful of Scallops (6) made for a tasty evening meal. This was the first time I had ever seen them in 3 years of Spearfishing and it was during the day.

Both Lobbies were 1 1/2lbs - not massive but still came home a happy Spearo! :friday

Not been in the water much this year to be honest and I think it will be coming to an abrupt end when we have our first child, a boy in August... But I will be going back in as soon as the Missus is happy for me too.

Lets hope for some good weather over the coming weeks for my last few dips and for everyone else who has not been in enough this year.

Cheers

Ryan

Jumped in the harbour with nobby from 7:30 till 12:30pm, vis was 3 meters and the tide was ripping. There was a nice seal shadowing us.

Not a very productive dive for us.

Seen black bream - to small, seen plaice - to small, seen pollack - to small, seen brill- to small, seen sole- to small, seen a red mullet- to small. Lots of flounder but have one in the specci comp already.

So decided to take the usual mullet and bass.

I ended the sesh with 2 bass one 2.7lb and a 4lber and a 2.5 lb mullet.

Nobby had 3 bass and a mullet.

My catch

Ah well, due to the pants forecast we have decided to give this weekend a miss. Dont fancy waking up in the middle of the night to find the tent floating away with me in it! Thanks to all who have given us information whether it be on the boards or via P.M. No information is wasted and have booked in with the good lady the weekend of the beginning of August so will be down then. :D

May well dust off the float tube on Saturday and go and bother some trout :-)

No problem mate, was nice to dive with you again.

Dived three different spots last night with viz ranging from 2m to around 5-6m at best. Didn't see an awful lot of fish. Lots of flounders, none particularly big. Several bass but mostly either too small or on the limit so left them alone.

Lost my torch. Again. Found it. Again. :D (Ian, it was back on the second bay that we went in.)

thats good thanks for taking me out .went rod fishing in the sun blue sky caught 8mackrel on my first time fishing well happy 3flaty then 8 mack what a turn round in 12hrs unbeleaveable this weathers crazy are we supprised !.now have cool box full of ice n macky have the girls eaten them flaties yet?have them tomorrow with thanks see what morning brings

stayed at my dad's last night near bridport.

Just couldn't resist a sneaky 15 min night dive whilst the old man was overseeing me having a beer in the pub.

Didn't bother with fins or weight belt as I was in knee deep.

Vis was just over 1 meter so stayed over sand in less than 1 meter and spotted this Jurassic mullet, then jumped out and finished my otter ale.

Hi,
Even if the weather does not look great I plannig to come back to Portland harbour this weekend. Saturday evening and Sunday morning. If anybody is interested to fish with a newbie just let me know.

Cheers
