Dorset Spear Fishing 2012

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Got in last night for a dive with Ben (Fearthespear). Good viz, a fair few fish about, including lots and lots of rays.

Came home with a good size bass and a flounder, and Ben took a couple of decent sole. Lovely warm water.

Knackered now, too much diving!

Looking forward to Guernsey on Saturday...

If anyone finds a SPEARO Apnea 75 off Sandsfoot moorings could they please contact me on this site, Me and my oldest went out on Saturday in our Kayaks to hunt around the deeper water there. UnFortunately my lad rolled his sit on while putting his fins on and droped his gun there, by the time we kitted up and got in water we had drifted some way and could not find it!!! Will dish out a reward to the finder.:blackeye Oh does anyone have a nice 75 for sale???

cheers

Wolf.

Leader replaced my carbon blades, so well happy with that.
Unfortunately I still need some foot pockets for them and with my recent redundancy I cannot purchase new ones.

If anyone can sort me out with a cheap pair of foot pockets I would be extremely grateful.

I a size 9, so usually wear 10-11 pockets.

Lee,
I have a pair of Omer footpockets which I believe are 10-11 although might be 11-12 will check later. I also have a cressi SL50 which is bust (front plastic bit inside muzzle, don't know technical name!) Was going to get some spares and repair it but if any of it is use to you let me know.
Both/either whatever are yours gratis. Shame to see a spearo kept out the water through no fault of their own... Although might mean some more fish for me ;)
Just pm me and we can sort details.
On a side note Kev, comanchekiller, has a short gun for sale (band) he gave me a good price on the stuff I picked up so it may be a cheap option to replace the 70?

I think that quote is a perfect description of the Winky himself!

Grats brother, not jealous.

Ha, cheers young blood, you sarky bugger! But to be fair your not fair wrong!!

great catch winky! rep given. shame can only giv it once as that deserves 2 lots for sure !! rep added agian wen i share the love mate.

Well done lee, winky and nobby. Some great catches there. Rep awarded to all

Cheers Guys, much appreciated!

Hi am lees brother i just sent you a priv message on behalf of lee his internet is down. hes well please and appritiates your help. Ive sent you his number thanks.

Nice dive last night with lee and andy. millions of bass about had a problem with my trigger locking up soo did not shoot to much but enjoyed the dive, seen my first hound and seen some nice ray. was a little choppy towards the end of the night. feeling sea sick today!!! lol.

Unlucky with the trigger mate, have you got it sorted? Sounds like a good dive. I have the day off today so hoping for a dive late afternoon early evening, but will have to see what the sea is doing according to the olympic coverage the wind is up and a fair chop building although today looks about my best bet for the rest of the week!

Glad you managed to find some vis. I got up early to try Ringstead in the hope that there might be some as it was pretty good on saturday night, however i was disappointed to find i couldn't see the end of my gun.

Decided to drive over to the Fleet to see if the water was any better due to the shelter around it but didn't even bother going in, it certainly looked better but not much of an improvement. I have headed back home for a few days now but expect to be back at the weekend to try again.

If anyone is able to offer a rough indication of an area that is work able come the weekend it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Chris

Is it worth coming down tomorrow.

Mate and I were hoping to come down tomorrow for a long weekend. Doing some (first) time in the water during the day and then normal fishing evening night before kipping in tents. However the forecast looks terrible. Big question is, is it as bad as predicted down there? Will it be worth the drive from Leicester to camp?

Apparently the rod-and-line fishing is particularly good at the moment. The viz, however, is terrible pretty much everywhere (as far as I know) as SW is the worst direction for most places. I might be wrong on that one, and perhaps somebody else will send you a message with some suggestions, but there aren't many places around here that are accessible during the olympics that will take a strong SW wind.

Lee caught himself a type fish;)

Looks like the Vis is bad everywhere at the moment, as I Went for a dive earlier with will around the swanage area, to a spot that supposedly has good Vis when most other places don't. After a 45minute drive to get there an a bit of a walk we jumped into the water. We were immediately met with pea soup, so we decided to swim out a bit further. It did get better but nothing special with the best Vis being in a tiny patch. The Vis was about 1m and in the little patch about 4m but very milky. I only saw small wrasse and pollack but will saw a couple of mullet an managed to get a decent (thin lip possibly) mullet around the 3lb mark. We didn't stay in for long as it was quite choppy and we could hardly see the end of the gun. So we got back out and decided to do a night dive tonight instead.

Well done on the fish bud
