Damn, you guys are doing well!

It shows its about getting out there and diving how ever the conditions first look. I'm going to head out this evening and try to find that vis though the place I'm thinking of has a bit of a walk in so I hope its the right choice.

...a very mixed bag for me: flounder, plaice, sole, pollack, garfish, bass, bream and mullet on the stringer!

Hi, I am contemplating a trip down tomorrow but don't want to do the long journey to find no viz. I would really appreciate it if some one could give me a viz report. Looking at going somewhere between Durlestone bay and Portland. Many thanks.

Hi Jpp,

I jumped in today and was pleased to find 4-6m viz. Milky but the best viz I've had this year. Only v small fish seen (but again, first fish of the year). Good to get back in , but feeling I need to become a night diver to stand any chance of catching fish at this time of year.
Note to self: Don't eat chips just before diving...

Likewise - don't want to know details of "secret spots" - but is this good-ish viz east or west or Portland, for example? And is the landslip having much impact along the Purbecks?

Hi,

just back from Portland, Nice Bay the Church Ope Cove, went this morning with the low tide, the vis was between 1 to 3 m depending on the area of the bay. I managed a nice mulet of 1,3 kg! and tasty!
I guess the vis will be ok tomorrow as the wind should be dropping more

Best I can offer on vis report at moment is about a meter a Ringstead (didn't dive but was there with family yesterday)

Got in this afternoon, very cloudy still but more than ok on the bottom. Quick look at other areas and its still very poor though. Seen my first fish of the year a shoal of pollack bit small to take though. And also had a Lumpsucker swim up to me - its the first time i have seen one of these fish and pictures dont really do it justice, its very ugly but surprisingly colourful. The water felt much warmer too.

Well decided to go in for the first time this year at Portland. Viz was up to 3 m but milky temp was 9 to 10 c. Was in for an hour and a half but no fish seen at all, still a lovely day and good to be in again. Thank for the viz reports guys.

Well done everyone for getting wet.... Lovely weather for it.

I was tempted to go diving around Portland today but after diving my first competition at Bognor Regis for 5 hours my legs couldn't take it. Whilst diving Bognor I saw 2 lumpsucker (first time I've seen them) and I must agree they are very ugly. But like all fish enjoyable to watch. The water is starting to warm up and the fish are starting to make an appearance so hopefully there will be more catch reports from everyone

Another awsome dive.

I hooked up with my duve buddy Nobby; he's not been able to get in much recently due to a new baby. And I seem to have lady luck on my side at the moment.

I wanted to try a completely new spot, bit of a risk? But it's paid off lately as ive hit a different spot every dive the past month. Also it was a good hour drive from Nobby's house; but he was still keen.

Got to spot and vis looked good. Worked the beachand reef for an hour and nothing worth taking. Decided on a marathon 2 mile swim Slowly hunting as went 2 hours of absolutely NOTHING was about to Give up, then I see a glimpse of very very skitish fast moving silver; could it be what I was after? So I slowed down to a snail pace snd swam another 20 Yards and there was another deep chrome fish, blunt head and wearing a gold gilted crown......."yes" it was.....I nailed it with my picasso gun!!!!!!!
3lb 3oz gilthead bream.

We went on further....when suddenly I see a huge tail! Take aim but notice that Nobbyhad already lined up on it, so I lower my gun.
..boom!!!!! OMG what a fish for Nobby! Really.....this fish is awsome. I wil let him post up. I will leave you all with a pic of my not so aesome gilthead bream.
