Had a session at Chapmans Pool this morning. Vis was not great but got up to 2m+ at times. May water is still there. I didn't see any bass, but did see wrasse and a shoal of pout (+ spider crabs).
I left my neoprene socks at home by mistake, after a few minutes my feet got used to the water temp and were fine after a 2.5 hour session.
Quite a slog back up the hill - I currently use a 7mm suit and wear up to 12kgs of lead! I am glad the Guardian is durable there are a few thorny bushes along the path there.

Fair play for getting wet dude. This vis problem we got around Weymouth is seriously putting me off..... Only small fish around (and not many either) isn't helping much either.

Was that you with the escorting kayak yesterday?? I came out just after you had got in, I also had very little to show for my 3 hours!!
Got in yesterday for a couple of hours. Found 2-4m viz and loadsa fish! Missed a large bass shortly after getting in, then shot a sole. Was then surrounded by schoolie bass but they were all a bit too small, so just enjoyed watching them flitting about.
Carried on along and saw the biggest flounder I've ever seen. Proper dustbin-lid flattie! I shot at it and missed, and the spear was left sticking into the sand just next to it. But the flounder stayed still! So I gingerly pulled the spear out to have another go by hand, but it shot off. Grrr. In hindsight I should've pinned it down with the muzzle of my gun and then pulled the spear out for another go. Ah well.
Carried on along and saw all sorts of various fish including a mackerel (which I shot at but missed), several spider crabs, loads of slightly-too-small sole, flounders, bass, and a random scad.
Got out after a couple of hours still nice and warm and got changed in the 20 degree heat. Lovely.
Result, a 4lb bass, two large flounders and a sole. And, even better, my friend Will shot his first ever bass and got a couple of decent flounders too. So he was well chuffed.

Were you around Weymouth or Portland or further west, as I am looking to get out on a night dive tonight & wondering if it is worth going around Weymouth or Portland or stick to the Swanage area, due to the poor vis that has been reported, although yours was 2 -4m. If further you were west then I will probably stay in the Swanage area.
Absolutely! I was almost point-blank range. The damn thing must have been less than 50cm from my spear-tip. Grrr. :head

I have done a little bit of spear fishing before but since moving down here in december i have fancied the idea of getting into it and have just recently brought the gear.
And now I am looking for someone who would take me under their wing for a couple of sessions and just teach me (or just let me watch and take wheres good to hunt and general tips like that, I am a fast learner and currently live 2 minutes walk from chesil cove portland.
I hope someone wouldn't mind helping me out!

Yup, that was me! Hello again deeper blue folk, haven't posted for a while but always keeping up to date on here.
Moomin, when I got back to the ferry I turned around and he was right there behind me!!! I had to ask a bunch of shaved leg roadies to accompany me back to my car (the shame!).
