Hey moomin,

Yup, that was me! Hello again deeper blue folk, haven't posted for a while but always keeping up to date on here.

Moomin, when I got back to the ferry I turned around and he was right there behind me!!! I had to ask a bunch of shaved leg roadies to accompany me back to my car (the shame!).

We did wonder if you were gonna get back alive, glad you made it mate!!! He obviously took quite a shine to you!
Shame it mucked up your plans, stayed out until about 1.30am a few schoolies about and not much else really. Gutted I missed those 2 bass, but there for next time!

Well...was gunna invade S Devon on a bream hunt; but decided to leave scrumpy (lee) to it and stayed local (ish).

Alan and I found 3 meters vis over sand with a bit of surf.... but it was rubbish. Seen a few baby brill, plaice and SE ray and loads if school bass up to 3lb do left them.

A bit if a crap dive with no big bass about so I picked of 6 of the 3lb bass to take home. Alan also took a few aswell and he seen a lovely long slim 4lb salmon.

I did manage to finish the dive with a good 4lb lobster.

We decided to stay up abd dawn raid some bream.....but at 4:30 am we git in at the chosen spot to find 1m bloomy vis. 8-9m down and vis was zero .....got home at 7:30am. Gutted just six bass and a lobby, but u don't know till u give it a go and we hit a new spot.

We also seen a 10 year old driving a mini on the dual carriageway?

Nice lobster. Did you put the bands over its claws whilst out on the water?

Where did you put your hands on it when you picked it up?

I have been sorting out my kit this evening. I am trying to fit the wrist strap which came with my Xtar D06 torch to the loophole in the bottom but it seems the cord is too thick to pass two strands through and there doesn't appear to be a break in the loop I can use. Any tips for attaching the wrist strap?

If used a BBQ skewer to get the wrist band through the D06; it's tight but does go.

To grab a lobby: ensure it's facing away from you, very slowly position your hand hovering just behind the head, then one quick grab on the carapace. Hold it tight and away from your face and body. Getting it in a bag is another story!

I put bands in when I got home to protect the fingers of children prodding around un the fridge.

Dont grab it by the claws as 9/10 times it will shoot bith claws and swim away.

Ah ok.. the reason I asked is because it looked like there was some kind of camoflaged divehunter /inflatable behind it... I have been tweaking the setup of my guardian tonight and so was interested in seeing any dive hunter setups.

Thanks for the tip on the torch, my wife has just threaded it through for me.

I have a catch bag with a metal framed opening.. when I am ready to dive at night and search for lobster I hope this will make it a bit easier putting them in the bag. I take it a lobster can break a finger? !

I'd take 3lb bass any day, like to see one with this viz down here.

I will have to start making the effort and travelling up to dorset with you boys, this way at the moment is pointless. Might as well travel up and stop on for an am dive.
Went in where you said you might, full on pea soup. I didn’t make the decision to go until late, managed to get a few hours off work but ended up knee deep in mud, thought mmm!!! This isn’t good.rofl

Lee,there is a knack to diving in poor vis. Some of my best have came from vis under 2m. But in these conditions you are restricted to night dives.

You have a few 'gems' on your doorstep, when I lived there I found some amazing spots. ....needto revisit soon mate.

Very well done putting time and effert in boys tho you should think youselves very lucky to see bass never mind hit and take home any !Try not to rub salt into our open wounds !Hope your not taking the piss out of nobbie was it him driving the mini?rofl

Too right! I was really chuffed to get one 3lb bass the other night!

I was more gutted about the bream and lack of vis to hunt them.

We tried a new spot for them. We seen a few small ones during a night dive, so wanted to dawn raid the spot.

I'm getting so close to that double figure bass,,, it's getting frustrating and now I have the bream bug! I'm hunting for a 5lb +. Alan and I have done a hell of a lot of research and have a multitude if spots to try out.

Talking of lobsters & claws, I came away with a pair.......... of claws, not that it was my intention to grab the lobby by the claws, but I grabbed at his carapace, but I was too slow, he shot backwards & I was left holding the claws. Gutted.

Went out for a last minuet dive the other week, after being in the water for all of 5 mins heading out to the mark I was going to fish I spotted a group of rather massive bass cruise past, I've never seen big bass school up before, there must of been about 8-10 fish together, vis wasn't great as the tide was running quite hard over the ground I was swimming over and it was very shallow, about 3ft dropping away slowly. I picked off the largest out of the shoal, which was my 1st bass of the year and came weighing in at 9lb 4oz, a new pb for me, once I reached my intended spot I managed another bass of about 4lb and a couple of lobsters. Needless to say I was pretty chuffed with that result!!!

Well done fantastic fish !my PB about 4-5 lbs after 3 years or so .That's how it goes some times you just never know when or what's going to come out of the blue !I'd be very chuffed to bass n lobsters !keep it up!
