Just got out. Vis is not great east of Weymouth - in fact its awful. Looks like big tides at the moment which probably isn't helping. Lots of small bait fish and one very scabby looking eel spotted. :duh

Alternatively you could try spearfishing on dry land! My mate is the first in the country to offer bow fishing for mullet from canoes, redneck style!

Just checked out his page looked awesome... until I came across this...

When the fish are smaller than the bands on your gun, you know you're doing it wrong![]()

I think its an misleading photo:head. I believe the fish in question is a golden grey which don't reach a great size anyway. I know the chap in question wouldn't knowingly take an undersize fish let alone advertise the fact on his website. He's not a bad man!
Sexual maturity of Mullet (Grey and Thick Lip) is 47cm.... this isnt or the one in the pic before this! Unfortunately no legal landing size! :rcard
A related question...
Wrasse - bad eating and bad sport?
Never shot one, but I've heard that the big ones can be good eating. The fact that I'm even considering this probably reflects a pretty unsuccessful year so far!
Cheers
Evening all,
After a bit of heads up re: Vis. I've been out of the country the last week and just got back today. My brother (DafyddRees) is coming down to visit this weekend and was hoping to jump in somewhere dorset / devon way. I've not been looking at the weather here in the UK as I have been lapping up 38 degrees in Italy instead. I'm guessing that these southerly winds have been here all week have they? If so can anyone point me in the right direction of the chance of finding any vis?
Cheers
Nick
