Dorset Spearfishing 2013

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
You can almost always count on pirtlabd harbour sailing academy in a southerly blow. But it is crap there.

Cheers Lee,

I was thinking that might be my only choice...typical I was all geared up to take him to some of my decent bass spots which are all a bit more exposed and then the wind turns!!

Oh well might just take the rods down instead.

Cheers again Lee,

Nick

There are flatfish, mackeral and the odd shellfish down here at Southbourne. Being on the east side of Dorset, I want to concentrate on my own patch rather than driving west each time I head out.

It's a bit exposed here though, however the tide mostly runs parallel to the beach.. on a spring tide you can drift with it and cover a lot of ground.

Not much Vis today, so had Joe round to practice dynamic breathe holds!

Well...decided to get in with mike last night. Went to swanage only to be met by crowds of people and extremely load fireworks; that did a great job of scaring everything in the ocean.

Just two sole and one bass :(.

Then to top it off I had my car ceased by the police on my way home for 1 bald tyre :(. Now thats a van witout a gearbox and a car residing with dorchester police.

Im gunna eat my sole!

Looking to come down tonight but don't want a wasted journey can anyone give me a viz report for between swanage and Portland? I see the last post says Weymouth is like a mill pond.

Entire bay from the Grove point to Ringsting bay was like a mirror this morning but it has been choppy for the last week. Lee and I were in at swanage on Sat night and in the bay vis was pretty good but round the point in to durlstone bay the vis dropped right off. not been in around Wey area for a couple of weeks so cant really comment on that but the harbour will still have vis if no where else does!

Will be getting in somewhere on Saturday night hopefully.
