Hello! Just registered for the forum as went spearing for the first tine last night, went to lulworth stairhole which turned out to be a bad idea as water is completely chalky after cliff fell in! Going again this weekend but wondering where a good place to go would be around the dorset area?

Well after the viz reports not looking good yesterday,I still decided to come down. Did the massive climb down to Chapmans Pool to find 1metre viz! Then did the 400 or so foot back up after 10 minutes in the water.Went to Swanage where there was about 3 metres viz but a bit milky. Had 4 sole and a flounder. Only 1 bass seen and I hit it but it got off the spear. Nice to see lots of Fallow deer on the Studland road on the way back. Thanks for the viz reports guys, it is so helpful when you have a long journey and so far I have not come down and not found somewhere to go
Very bad! had to swim out very far before the chalk cleared up and the vis was still poor after that
Taken at night about 2.30 in the morning. Going to cook them in a minute for tea. New species for me. Had not come across them when spearing before.

I had a 5lb sole in the day as my first ever flatfish. Didn't realise that it was such a bug fish fir thst species until after I ate it 
He was just sat on top of the sand in bright sunshine in 5m and my brother nailed his slightly smaller mate. Never seen one anywhere near that size since. But plenty of 3lbers

I held the british record for a short while with a 6lb 4oz fish
To be honest there was not much skill involved in catching it, as I was just about to stand up & take my fins off in about 2' of water when I saw it!
That's one hell of a fish mate! No matter how you got it. I can only dream of seeing any flatfish over 5lb again. I've predominantly got my eye tuned into big bass at the moment and finding it difficult to shift this obbsession
