Been scanning the webcams whilst sat on the loo. But can't be certain that there is vis. Portland harbour-Ham beach to castle town is probably best bet, but with no guarantee of vis and the fact that the harbour is probably the least productive spot in the area.....

Hi, I'm a new Dorset spearo based in Bournemouth. Have spear-fished abroad but never at home. After a great trip to Mexico with some free diving training a few weeks back and some barracuda and grouper under my belt, I'm really keen to get in the water here.

Can anyone recommend gear for the winter so I won't freeze my nuts off please?

I've got a 5mm psycho freak surfing wetsuit and 3mm boots, gloves and a hood. Will that be enough?

Guns wise I have a 55 Cressida Geronimo and a 55 pneumatic mares. Thanks

For starters you will absolutely need a 5mm open cell 2 piece spearsuit. I would highly recommend the piccaso UK camo suit. Greg or kev can sort you out with one and all the other gear required for the UK spearo. the Picasso guys use this forum so hopefully will pick up from here and sort you out.

Most of us use 5 or 7mm open cell spearo suits, 5mm open cell socks with 5mm slip skin gloves. Carbon or fiber blade long free dive fins. Low profile mask, simple flexi snorkel, quick release belt with aprox 9-12 kilo of lead, knife, float/bouy, fish stringer, goody bag and a 75-90cm banded gun atached to aquarium airline to the float. Or a short gun / pneumatic for night diving.

Thanks a lot. I'll check out the website and make contact with the Picasso guys.

Has anyone found any vis yet? Was hoping to get in a few times before I go back to work as it's been months since I got in and this bloody weather isnt helping.
