Tried Winspit for the first time on Saturday, 1 to 1.5m vis, nothing seen, didn't even take the gun off of my float. Not worth hauling all my gear down and up the fields!

I you do go I would recommend aiming to get in at either high tide or very low, the main rock ledge / beach makes it quite choppy to get in when the water is crashing against it, so I reckon waiting until the water is way above or way below the ledge will make it much easier. You'll see what I mean when you go

Low tide is very handy at winspit you can just walk out and then jump off the ledge straight into the deep and no having to bugger about! though the last few times I have been down winspit the vis has been crap and barely seen a thing :/ hopefully wont stay like that for too long! though the weathers starting to look crappy already for the weekend! bad times

Yeah but there is a bit of a rip current that did drag me out towards the cliff but the a big bass tricked me into going into that. Winspit has all the caves in the quarry so you can camp overnight as well

Barely felt a current when I was there, not that I was massively far out.

I've been in it coming back up on an outgoing, and a light easterly chop and I'd count it as one of the harder swims I have pulled off and had to stay around 2ft off the rocks to make progress. Getting back to the rubber taxi anchored off was pretty diagonal too.

Vis is still very poor, so hit the thatchers cheddar valley cider at the weekend, complete memory loss...apparenty I ordered this pig from fat bloke down the pub...
