Hi All,
I'm down for the weekend and have done some of the scuba thing over at Swanage today. Is any one around tomorrow (Sunday 31st) to help a couple of newbies learn the spearfishing ropes please?
If not, can any one recommend a good site where we might find some decent vis and easy conditions to try a few of the tips i've read on deeperblue?
Got all my own gear with the exception of a float and stringer so not looking to borrow/lose any one else's stuff.
Any help much appreciated, we're based over in Bournemouth/Christchurch but are happy to go as far as Chesil etc and can also offer someone a lift as there'll be a spare seat in my pick-up.

A great dive today with the usual suspects aboard the SS Jolly Rodgers Podge,Stuckinsurrey,Fearthespear,Coops and Scottie3030 trying out his new boat as well.
Lots of small schoolie bass spotted by myself but no big ones seen.The eind dropped off by early afternoon which made the sea state alot calmer.Did see a small cuttlefish and plenty of sandeels.
Did have a nasty moment when i returned to the surface after a short dive to be passed over by a kayak and have his fishing lure pass directly over my back which i managed to grab before the hook struck home.He did get a nasty shock when he turned around to see me holding the end of his line.
Still haven't got that bass yet!!

As the fat bloke has said we had a good day, with Ben once again on the long swim but this time against the currant!
I had a takeble Bass and nicked Jim’s Mackerel so all is well in the Rogers house tonight.
Water is warming up fast now gents with temps up to 14 degrees.
Had a small problem with Scotties boat and we ended up towing him back to Bowleaze, hope it’s not to bad Rick and not an expensive fix.
Ben did you get home in time to miss the bo**cking?

Hehe, 10 mins late but all well! I've got some screeming tinitus so I think a couple of weeks off the diving may be favourite! I'm not sure i've totally recovered from last weekend...

Took five bass over the weekend. Nothing huge though. Three on Saturday from Chesil Cove, then two today from the bay at Tar Rocks (lovely spot to dive in, by the way).
Nice to meet you today, Ras (if you had swum another 50 meters you would have found the fish!)
Anyone got any reports on what the viz has been doing east of Portland, in preparation for the Tuesday evening Wessex meet?

Plan 1/A: Meet at Vobster at 1000 Sat. Dive. Go to camp site, have beer.
Sun Meet at Vobster when we all wake up and can think and dive again.
If Sir Podge could take the names of the persons interested and sort out the campsite that would be grand.
Its £25 quid each for the weekend plus your Vobster fees. My insurance covers you well no no worries there. I need an extra instructor and they want cash.
Contact Podge and put you names on the list please.

Hi All,
Dived Portland harbour Saturday vis was 2-3m and the water is definitely warming up! Met up with silent night just as I was getting in came out with a few scallops and my first flattie a 2lb plaice. I swam right over the flattie and almost missed it but swam back a little and there was no mistaking it was a flat fish - put up a bit of a struggle and I had to reach down and pull him onto the spear as he had not gone past the barb. Cooked the Plaice last night with fennel and sea salt and it was very tasty.
Sunday dived somewhere near lulworth with my girlfriend in tow! :head The vis was again 2-3m not the best went in an hour before high tide and only saw one small schooly bass and plenty of Wrasse, after much nagging from Becky about 'being too picky about which fish I wanted to spear' I spotted a 4lb wrasse called her over pointed at the fish and duly handed the gun over - not a bad shot actually and she had a grin from ear to ear! (plenty of browny points for me then!)

no probs just ordered the parts they'll be here by the end of the week, and of to the shops for the ponk are you around again this sunday if you are ill prob need more wine

Swimming against the currant ????? I know the vis wasn't great but it wasn't like Alpen either.
Are they harder to swim against than raisins or sultana's ?????

nice one gaz its always another weekend did you make any pic of big the bass,it was good dive lovely viz and calm waters its look like good weather finally arived,hope to see you next weekend.

Me and a mate have been thinking of diving chesil cove but have been a bit cautious as I was told the currents could be dangerous!!! Anytips for timing, depth and distance from shore, just too see us right.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
