I can only aspire! I think you are spot on Harbour Seal. I wore a 5 mil when I was up your way - and it seemed to me a 6 mil top would be just the thing.

it is a great reassurance to hear that from you of all people. through a multitude of inspiring posts i have great respect for your winter diving prowess and knowledge.

actually, in my excitement and uncertainty i have tried to read pretty much every post on deeperblue pertaining to elios suits. i really want to make the most of this upcoming purchase as i have been saving for quite awile.

i am most grateful to access information from experienced freedivers and find this resource absolutely invaluable (read: this forum and its members).

upon receiving my first elios suit and of course greasing myself with the requisite biodegradable lube (thanks trux), i hope to dive as much as possible throughout the year---winter in these parts, from what i gather, often brings better visibility due to reduced plankton activity. also i know of a seal that likely gets quite lonely out in the bay all alone and nobody coming to visit as i have finally started swimming indoors (and no longer kayak due to a chronic back injury).

being new and without yet the opportunity to meet an actual "real-live freediver" you folks have made my beginnning even possible---beginning this incredible way of life called freediving. for this i am most thankful.

I still can't believe you haven't met up with the gang there Sean. Vancouver is crawling with freedivers. Here's what: I and my husband Gabe will be popping into Van every Thursday evening (starting Feb) for the PFI SFU program.
Perhaps we can meet up sometime? You're also welcome to stop by here anytime, there's lots of good Lake diving around, ask Amphibious! Our fave spot yet's been Pavillion Lake, studied by NASA for it's cool stolomite formations. As I recall, the 5mm suit worked great in the 3 degree water of early spring.

i would love to meet you and your hubby when you are in town for the sfu-pfi sessions. actually, a good freind of mind is likely going to be in the course as well so perhaps i can cook dinner for the lot of you.

physically, i am not yet in the best shape (due to a chronic injury), which has likely delayed me in actively seeking out other local divers; however, each month my physical abilities continue to improve.

it is great to hear there is an active vancouver freediving community. i expect that the opportunity to meet will present itself sooner rather than later (especially now that i know about vancouverapneist.com).

regardless, once i get my gear organinzed i will be looking for water to dive all winter/spring long--so i just might come up to your way and say hello.
