The suspense and anticipation continues to build....
see a wet blade in the last pic... Bathtub testing?!?
Its a good solution for kids because it can grow with them. you can also get different blade sizes.Thinking about buying a "family Dol fin pilot" where we can have our own shoes. My sons are growing but the frame lasts ;-)
Thanks derelectp, very interesting review. For me, the video of arms down was particularly useful.
Fondue:
Like you,I found the negative buoyancy in my fin (very similar to the Pilot) to be an problem for open water vertical diving. Adopting a neck weight and putting some buoyancy on the fin completely solved that issue. Even a lot of buoyancy did not seems to affect its surface performance(something I worried about)
Surface performance seems really good - and I think this is partly because of negative buoyancy - keeps the fin in the water. I actually think the surface performance is better than the Orca - because of buoyancy and because the Pilot blade is closer to the feet.
Adding my two pence worth, yes, I too agree about surface swimming. I also find that swimming on your back you can really get up a good lick of speed and I'd recommend you keep your arms over your head because if you don't concentrate you risk a fearful wack on the head if you hit the end of the pool lane!+1 about surface performance:
I did not test this during my review but this sunday I swam several laps with frontsnorkel. The surface performance is maybe the most surprising about this fin for me. it's awesome in my opinion. I can swim like I do with soft fins but still have very good thrust.
Thanks for the reporting! it sounds like we're in for a part two, with deep diving comparisons.
