F.10v3

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
So its not like the Suunto D4i/D6i interval trainer, which can be set to changing intervals?

I wish Aeris would add that to the F10v3. It would be awesome!

Also - word on the interfaces cables is that they have embedded proprietary electronics in them and are not just simple cables. Hence the price.

Why are these electronics there? Is it not possible to simply use a USB interface?

Backlight Glow During Alarms
> The Backlight will automatically activate when an alarm is triggered during the dive. It will remain on for the duration of the alarm or until acknowledged by the diver.

I am confused, I contacted Aeris a month ago and explicitly asked if this was availiable on the f10v2 and they said yes, it is also written in the instructions.

Hi Fondueset, is there already a release date and a spec sheet available for the v3 somewhere? I was looking around a bit today but I was not able to find anything... I was planning on getting the v2 but now I am curious about the new v3 :)

Wonder if they'll hold off until September and re-badge it as Oceanic F10 V3...

Just last week I bought the F.10v2 after dropping my 11-year-old D3 on the concrete driveway. I've only used it once, but so far I'm delighted with it. Luckily, I don't think any of the new features of the v3 are all that important to me as a spear fisherman.

Hi Bill, My v2 has thousands of dives on it. The diffs with the v3 are fairly minor. It does have a different processor, and access to the logs and programming options is a bit easier - thats about it. Still no word on release date BTW.

Thanks for the reassurances. I feel naked without a dive watch, so waiting for an indefinite release date wouldn't have been an option even if I had known about it. Also, I paid $275 for the v2, and I suspect that the v3 will cost a bit more, at least for a while.

Good price. I've been quite rough on my v2 - daily pool, very cold open water, bashed, dropped etc. I think I've been through 3 batteries.

I did manage to screw up. After a day of diving with the wrist strap and extension, I decided that I wanted to use the velcro strap off of my dead D3. After putting the velcro strap on, I tightened the screws into the end of the band pins with too much force, and twisted the heads off of both of them. So I had to use the pins from my D3, but they are a bit longer and thinner than the band pins that came with the F.10. A local dive shop is an Aeris dealer, so they have ordered new pins for me. I think next time I'll use Loctite and less force.

Well done! Breaking things is one measure of a man.

I think I will also surrender and just go for the v2 :D Everybody's happy with it :) Now I have the chance to use it. Also, I am a bit reluctant to wait, since I don't know how long it will take eventually

I admit being a bit disappointed in my F10v2. I use it exclusively for spearfishing and the occasional snorkeling+. I was expecting to use the alarms a lot and rely on them but in practice I can't. With a hood I just don't hear the alarm so I turned it off (there is a debate anyways on if it scares fish or not), this turns off the red led too but I didn't see it go off either. The manual says that the backlight turns on when an alarm sounds but I have not noticed that happening. It basically means I have to look at it all the time which is not practical. I might as well have no alarms on it at all...It's probably just me though, everyone seems happy with it.

Its funny, but I don't even want the alarms, so I was relieved that they didn't seem to be on by default.

All I really want out of it is present depth , time and depth of the previous dive, and surface interval.

Alarms are never loud enough on any freediving gauge i know of with a 5 mil suit - that's my experience anyway. I hear them okay with a 3 mil if I'm paying attention. Somebody needs to invent a louder underwater speaker thingy.
