Well, Nick has walked it with a great catch, a worthy winner and not something a lot of us would tackle (me big wuss).
And already a massive plaice entered for the June comp', can anyone respond with an even better catch?

Did you note the British record Brill & two double figure turbot?
Yes, incredible....would love to have had the chance to see of seen one of those species at size, let alone 2.
I have had the brill, sole, plaice, flounder, seen the topnot, next stop turbot....
Nice one on the mackie man, closest thing to Tuna in these waters
I'm sure I've read somewhere Large Bluefin Tuna have been caught fairly regularly in UK waters for a while now...will try and find the article. Just imagine one of those on the end of your spear!

Last year while out fishing for bass i noticed what i had only ever seen abroad on fishing holidays. It looked like Tuna jumping,birds were diving every where into the shoal. I wasnt close enough to see what was jumping. I soon got close enough but they stopped jumping. I did cast a lure where the last fish jumped and caught a bass. It may of been bass but i have never seen bass jump that way. That was late July early August time.
In the same place Oct/Nov time a gill netter fishing for bass caught a Bonito in his nets about 3/4kg. It was landed on Plymouth Market.

Speaking of Gilty's...Dont think Titus Bradley would mind as he does not post on DB but well done to him...just submitted a BSA records verification for 3.4kg Gilthead...think that is almost 7lb 8oz...
Thats apart from his 17lb cod and 9lb bass...and the black bream's'...awesome uk diving going on by certain LIC club members!

I think i am going to start shooting mackerel, it is alway tough to go against shiny1 that was a nice bream my next target if i can find some you no what said you got to be in it to win it!:friday

Just a suggestion, but how about a change to the fom rules so that a newspaper isnt the only way to enter a fish in the fom? it seems daft that spudguncat cant enter his fish because he didnt have a paper when he did have a witness from on the forum. I think there have been other people that have missed entering for the same reason.
After all, the weights are accepted without verification.

We are always open to suggestions mate
The newspaper is there simply to prove that it was caught on that day. Its not hard to get a paper, they are widely available all over the country In my opinion the paper makes the FOM fair. You get a good fish, buy a paper on the way home and enter the fish
We work very hard to ensure that the FOM is run fairly, I think if "witnesses" were allowed it would be too easily fiddled and lets not forget that there is a £200 prize for the winner of the FOY so may very well be worth a little white lie to get the entry in.
