Freedivers safety vest in development

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Azapa,
We are currently bench testing our first set of wrist unit prototype circuit boards. The prototype wrist units are finished and awaiting installation of the circuit boards. The design of the actual wearable vest is complete and we hope to have the prototype inflation unit within a month or so. We hope to have a working prototype for Sheri Daye's Florida Dive show in February and for the Boston Sea Rovers show in March. I'll make a post soon with new pictures and advances in software design.
Thanks for your interest.

Terry Maas .. good day to you!

Hope the prototype inflation unit got ready on time and is being tested at the moment ?

Can't wait to see it in action !!

I don't know if anyone has seen this but I will post it anyway:

I don't know what the progress of this vest is but it's another possibility.

I look at this devise and can't help but think the simplicity jumps out, after all that is why I got into this activity. I know that Mr. Maas has put tons of time into his project but has this other idea been thoroughly look at? The thing I worry about with Terry's is the electronics, if you have a leak and don't know it, are you toast?

I really, really, really don't want to sound like the guy that is negative but some of the comments earlier in this thread made me think, why don't we have this kind of protection? I think the time has come for something, anything, that would add protection to us.

I have also done some looking around and found these items that seem like they could be a base for another design:

Just wondering what the latest is on this.

Jon,
Thanks for your inquiry. This is a very busy time for the vest development team—writing manuals, making an instructional DVD, writing and testing code and diving with the pre-production models. Best guess in a year out and a price of $3,000 USD.
Take a look at our web site www.oceanicss.com for the latest. The technical page is interesting because it shows the parts and pieces.

So after a while the vest has surfaced, no pun intended.
It looks like a very polished article with a lot of impressive feedback from some experienced divers.
3k USD is a lot of money though.

Still, if it saves just one diver or family from having to bury a diver than it would be money well spent.

Huan,
Thanks for posting the link to the latest tests from paramedics and Hawaiian spearfishers and deep divers: Freediver's Recovery Vest--First_Impressions
