Wasn't gonna post unless Mart did first. Didn't want to embarass him :t .
However nothing to crow about myself. Went in for hour and a quater with Ed. Both saw much the same; couple of wrasse and the odd lonely mullet. No bass. Turned out Mart had shot them all :rcard . Damn.
Vis was good at about 15/20 foot, but I must admit I found it bloody cold. Had a good look around but mainly going indian. Left "young" Ed to do his aspetto thing. All looked good but must be too early yet. Might have been some early plaice around but it was a dead neap today, not the best area and we didn't really look. No sign of any pollack either.
Really need to wait a couple of months for warmer water and more fish but.....maybe go tomorrow.

Does look bloney good that, have you worked out how high its going to sit in the water? Those hollow fibreglass addition are going to give it a lot of boyancy aren't they?
Was thinking about venturing into the depths once more at Easter but if Dave still finds it cold I might wait a bit longer!

Pool Sessions
Summer's comin' and everyone is getting itchy gills (!)
I've got a couple of new-ish buys who are keen to get back in the water this year, which is exciting. One of them has expressed great interest in getting in some pool sessions to work on the breath-hold and general water confidence before venturing into the briny.
Anybody else fancy coming up to BSJ Monday eve for a bit of static and dynamic practice? About 8 'til 10pm. rsvp.

by the way the water is still about 8C on the east and about 9C on the west...
Did a SWI (salt water inspection) at Bordeaux just now and it is crystal and calm ... at Chouet it is a bit rougher and not quite so clear ... anyone fancy a dive today at 2pm ? Or maybe you are all working ...

...Just been in ... was 10C in the shallows (that's TEN Tom ) - saw a shoal of about 8 large mullet which made a double pass and then later a shoal of about 75 small mullet. Just saw the one bass but that was enough ... oh and a plaice the size of your hand - bass too far and plaice too small so I came out happy but fish less...

I once saw one of Fabio's spearfishing dvd's - it was Dapiran [http://www.dapiran.it/initial.htm] (I think) spearing mullet - half the dvd was dedicated to mullet.... Different attitudes over there. Also his technique was amazing ... very good spearo (goes without saying really).
Some serious spearing has been going on in the last few days. Myself, Ed, Pete, Miles and visitor Fabio have all done at least a couple of dives each.
Both West and East coasts have been tried. Vis is not bad, The west has taken a pounding surf wise for the last month but the last few days and especially today has seen it flat calm.
In less than 10 foot vis is still patchy at 6 to 10 foot but out deeper you can see the bottom clearly from 20 foot up even 25 ft in places. Okay for the youngsters and metric foreigners that's 7 to 8 metre vis maximum.
Still pretty cold at 8 or 9 degrees with 10 in the shallows if the tides flooding and its sunny.
Plenty of mullet about and a few wrasse and pollack starting to appear. Apparently there are bass about. Wouldn't know as I haven't seen any myself. Did see a fine lumpsucker today though.
Foxfish gets the honour for first day bass of the year from about a month ago (Pete got one in January at night). Mart also shot two last week but "lost stringer" was a good excuse. However, as for the last few days, the bass scoreline looks thus; Ed 0, Dave 0, Miles 0, Pete 4lb bass, Fabio 7.5 lb bass.

Any advise on knitting or crochet would be appreciated as I'm thinking on taking it up instead of spearing.

Hoping to get out in a rubber-duck tomorrow with new-face Chris.
Went out round Bordeaux the other day. not as cold as I had feared - stayed in for 1h45! Both came home with a nice Wrasse each. Saw quite a few Mullet about but they evaded our weapon systems.
