Why is no-one diving east?? The water looks so much clearer. I'm just gonna have to go in there and find out for myself aren't I!! Ooo errr... Evening dive possibly on the cards......

Finally managed to get in the water today...went to Saints Bay. Viz was more or less the same as in Jonny's video...not too bad (2-3m)? Went in about 15h00, so just a little bit before high tide. Didn't see any fish though, just a spider crab! Wasn't long in the water thought...just wanted to get a feel for it again...man it felt nice! Tell me, doesn't anyone have the new Suunto D4 and what is your experience with it?

Managed to get in yesterday. Was pleasantly surprised. the viz was certainly fishable.
Saw a couple of mullet (but not caught - nice one colin) a few schoolies and a couple of big rockies.
Only shots were with the camera!!! Great to get in and see some fish
The water was up to 17c in the shallows!!

My brother just left me the remains from his tank diving session, 12 scallop frills. Duly frozen down for better times.
He and his dive buddy had 12 scallops each, not sure where he went but I would think East coast and not over deep, he said Viz was OK.

Well the smell of sh1t, floaters gliding past and generally brown water from the new beach front outfall put me right off spearing last night, so I went fishing instead... http://forums.deeperblue.net/720391-post495.html
Just read your report on that link Andy. Very interesting and enjoyable read. You are the man. Well done, that sounded like a lot of fun.

But there's an article in todays GP about the "murky waters", not just here but in the other islands, French coast and up the Channel. Sea Fisheries say that the exact cause of the cloudy, muddy looking water which has been around since December is unknown. "Many experts believe the cause to have been exterme weather, including gales in December and high tide storm in March, in which silt and debris were washed from the French coast and deep lying sediment was disturbed". A certain local fisherman of many years said he thinks it could be a warm water plankton.
We have all been in and seen this stuff and I'm surprised someone can't just analyse the mysterious particles to determine whether they are plankton etc - but what do I know? Perhaps we need those ladies from CSI or Bones - I'd certainly help them out!!

It was me, my friend and brother at the knife a couple days ago. Also another two guys went in shortly after us. My brother had a mullet and me and my friend didnt catch. I dont think the other guys caught either. We went yesterday at l'islet and I had a bass.
vis was about 3-4m in the deeper areas near the knife and a bit less a day later at l'islet. Easily fishable though. Most of the scum and suspended snotty stuff seems to be rising to the surface and it is definitley improving.
Went in today at grand rocque, a favorite spot from last summer for bass. Was in at about 1 and out at about 3. Vis again easily fishable and i found some really fishy spots behind the large rock out in the bay which were perfect for aspetto, but no fish! I was so suprised at the lack of fish in the whole area apart from the usual mullet in the shallows. I didnt even see the large rockies that were aways there last summer. I am not a big fan of mullet and if I shoot them it is mainly for sport. Of course I eat them anyway, or give them away. I am trying the aspetto technique more recently, and the small bass I saw today appeared after about 40seconds on the bottom. It was smaller than the one i shot yesterday so I let it alone.
Anyone else in today?

Looks good. Certainly a unique design! What is the cruising speed? My father has just bought a boat and hopefuly I will be able to take that out later on in the summer when i learn all of the necessary passages. aching to try some offshore marks.
Has anyone seen the Gordon Ramsay episode of the F word where he goes diving off the Eddystone lighthouse for bass with two accomplished spearfishermen from the UK? Thats the kind of spot I would like to try at slack. Any suggestions?
Went in today, vis was appaling. Me and my friend were really up for a dive so after realising the knife was too stirred we drove to Bordeaux hoping for better clarity. It was similarly poor, though not quite as bad. I saw about 5 mullet in 20 mins but as soon as they were spotted a flick of the tail and they were gone as the vis was only 1.5m or so. I tred to do a OMD shooting them through the murk guessing where they would be, but no luck.
If you are standing on the beach the area to the left is probably my favorite spot for mullet, as for some reason they congregate there in numbers and it seems it is never more than a few minutes before you see another, even is crap vis.
Bought my nicorette inhaler today and the plan is to start quitting smoking tomorrow! Wish me luck!

Njp you might have just opened up a can of worms with the ramsay story there mate Gordon ramsay didnt catch those bass and the bbc had to make an a apologie for misleading the public, really funny stuff man lmao I think it was with the exe spearfishing club that they went with.
