Nice vid Tom and a tasty catch to take home. I still like your original scallop vid though, especially the sound track.
Went out in the bost yesterday (saturday) despite big tide (over 9metre). Hard to find good slack on these big tides and it was high water which adds to the depth as well. Hoped for flat calm but it wasn't although it was fine in my boat but then it clouded over making the poor big tide vis worse by making it low light big tide poor vis.
Anyhow he who dares Rodders and all that. Just over the 100 foot down on one of my gravel corners only produced one sole (unusual out on the gravel) and no brill or turbot. Lots of bait (sandeels) and a few pollack about still. Quick rethink and mate John and I did the blue ass fly job here there and everywhere.
Ended up with a few brill, the sole, a few scallops and a couple of decent pollack on the rods. Not a lot but more than enough for a meal or seven and a nice day out. For me any day out diving is a good day whatever and a few fish are the bonus.

I havent been paying attentin here for a bit, so firstly, a belated happy birthday derek!!
i went for a dip yesterday - managed to drag myself away from the yak for a bit.. went in down south at peiti bot, firstly turned right and went looking for deeper water (my max = 8m) - vis was poor there... but the really big shock was how barren it was - no fish, except the odd rocky. really lifeless tho. I wonder if the big springy tide is relevant (it was east winds to blame last week...)?
after a short while i decided the 'deep' was not the place to be (been too long out the water) and headed back to petit bot to check out the locale. saw a single fleet of bass go sailing by in super-clear water, the sun had come out and there was that 'sheen' in the crystal waters... i was at the end of a dive, needing air just as they appeared... good sized fish, about 5. didn't see any other fish :-( such a contrast to my last dive there when i had enough for tea for the family & outlaws and one for the local cafe owner!
am keen to go round to the Gouffre on a high tide (neaps).. anyone dived there?
got to keep on trying....

I tried at Bordeaux today as the West looked a bit rough and soupy. Vis was pretty awful in most places, although I did see a big bass briefly under the weed and a shoal of mullet. Also saw a shoal of Eee - NOrmous sandeels ( greater sandeel?) which is good to see.

Just a quick one from French France. Visited Scubaland today, great place, even though they're refurbishing the main shop and are operating out of their stock room at the moment.
Could have spent silly amounts of cash, but ended up with just a 110 euro bill which included a new battery kit for my D3, a new muzzle, and...another gun part, but, can you guess what it is?

This year is gonna go down in history as the crappiest ever for diving in Guernsey. It's just relentless wind and swell. No vis from Jan to August with the mystery silt and then awful wether ever since. I've crept my total up to nearly 20 bass and maybe 50 flatties but it's been a real struggle. A lot of low vis diving and going at it day after day during the odd good spell. This year I'm going any chance even wrong state of tide or poor locations just to get in there.
In tonight and out again within the half hour. Swam to the middle of Grande Havre but nowhere was vis better than 6 foot and everywhere the swell churning up the bottom. That's my third blank night dive, although basically all due to rubbish conditions.

Hmm. Maybe you're right ADM. Might be worth dusting off the rods in the shed!
I'm not sure I fancy standing around the cold so much this time of year though. At least when you dive, it's a bit more <pun> immersive </pun> than just standing around.
I have wondered about setting some trots though. Let them do the work.

OK back in the land of the living, I'd forgotten how much time babies take up. It seems I havnt missed much though. I planned to go in last sunday afternoon but the wind got up again.
I have a cunning plan to increase the amount of diving its called emigration!
