I went in far West this evening, splashing around far too much in the shallows. In terms of vis, this has to have been one of the best days since last November (roll on those cold still nights), i saw zillions of bass & mullet in the shallows, only a couple of big ones tho and i didnt catch them on film or spear :-( interesting watching them feeding off the sand.

Well I went in westish yesterday evening. Viz not too bad, about 3 metres ish. Saw a lot of mullet, but the missus is not big into eating them so left them be. Saw very little else at all until on one aspetto, I get surrounded by a school of bass to 2/3 lbs...I just start to raise my gun on one of the bravest fish...big bang...all the fish gone...my wishbone had snapped, loosed the shaft and scattered the school! End of dive for me...anyone know where to get Beuchat spares on the island!!?
Any comments on our sewage situation guys? I can't believe not one has mentionned it. Was down at the Imperial last night and there was a strange hong for high tide. It was pretty choppy too so we gave it a miss. Anyone diving despite the health warning on the from page of the GP yesterday? g.
They've been pumping raw untreated sewage into the sea for decades. It's just going a few hundred yards closer in now. I don't see the big difference. I guess it's been out of sight out of mind for most people??
Mayeb I won't swim in poo bay but then I wasn't keen before.
Rocquaine won't have been remotely affected.
A minor amount was discharged at Saline on the day the pipe burst and not since. Everything else is going out at Belegrave, White Rock and St Sampsons.
The "health warning" on the press is the paper, as always, creating outrage where there really is no need for any. A pipe burst, it happens, and its being sorted out as quickly as possible. The "no swimming in the sea anywhere" type statements come from the Health and Safety people saying they can't guarantee water quality and the press exagertaing it to mean the whole sea is polluted and if you get within 300 yards of the shore you'll catch some terrible disease.
A load of nonsense. Steer clear of the area between Bordeaux and Havelet and the sea will be completely unaffected, and hopefully the burst will be fixed by the end of the week and everything will go back to normal.
Milkman, Micks will have wishbones (it's next door to alladins cave any local will tell you where that it), as will Dive Guernsey in Town near the Castle. If you're really stuck let me know, I've got a few spares.

Haha - it was sooo far west you would almost be south, also got worse once the tide started moving strongly.
Gbo200 i dont think theres a problem on the Rocqaine/Leree bay on the incoming tide, although i avoided chewing the lumpy bits floating around :naughty
however they are chemical/spray cleaning the jetties at Portelet with warning signs about hazardous chemicals!! :headdidnt seem to bother the fish tho..
I have to say mag you got a good point about the dumping of waist only being a little closer but the old stuff got pumped into the little russle and was taken buy the fast runing water but now its being pumped onto the beach
alltho i agree, i cant see the west coast boing affected the fact still remains shit sticks and the tide will not wash it away so fast i know the east coast has been a pit for a long time but to say its just people geting on one is a bit wrong considering we all use the water and its a outrage.
thay know things like this happen and we are no longer in the dark ages so if thay spent some of that tax money we pay on a weekly basis to suporting inferstructure or better still upgrading to a more earth friendly system we would not be in this situation. and remember its not just a little its the islands untreated waist ON THE BEACH.
and as for the press creating a frenzy well it wasent it was a staitment buy the enviroment agency and i doubt thay would release it so litely in peak holiday time just to be killjoys thay hade to beleave there was a high chance of damage to health.
Anyway im bleating now all im saying is you guys had a little pop the other day at somebody for leting a fish suffer becouse it makes us look bad but the island waist gets pumped onto a local beach and o its no problem. Do you think more for a fish then the world thay live in ? no habitat no fish
