What has happened to Guernsey this year! I get depressed reading the dive reports, please tell me it will get better! My only pleasure as a land-locked house-husband is to read of your wonderful exploits.....Please post some science-fiction just to please me...............:friday:friday
Well did manage it out in the boat today. It was rough as guts out there. Thought it would be sheltered east and north from the SW wind. Nope, wrong, it was very rough everywhere.
Managed a couple of tanks in 60ft off the NE coast. Good vis and little tide meant it was very nice down there, unlike falling about in the boat. Managed a few scallops, a brill and a plaice, along with a crab. On the rods I had a few mackerel as well. Not a lot but okay for a senile old man who struggled to remember how to rig up his scuba gear :head.
Despite the rough weather I had a great day. Feel good to be alive-again.

Things are looking up at last, just as I'm back at work. Good tide for a night dive though so went for a look last night. Vis was disappointing at first but improved as i went deeper. Tried somewhere new, well actually just next to an established spot.
Lots of small plaice from undersize up to about 1.5lb. Took a few and left a few size ones. Saw some really nice red mullet. Shot one and somehow missed one. Another big fish turned out to be telepathic. Just as I was deciding on what angle of head shot to use it read my mind and vamoused.
Lots of small squid, a few cuttles plus all the usual night life. A big mullet gave me a near heart attack by playing chicken passing me at high speed as I rested on the surface in deeper water. That was a new trick and rather unsettling.

Night dive again tonight. Crappy falling mid tide but excellent vis. Not much in the shallows and only saw 3 decent fish in the deep. Luckily got all three so OMD size plaice (small but tasty ), 2lb 12oz sole (small by OMD standard :t) and a 1lb 7oz red mullet (again very small for OMD standard :t). Am keeping my sole as a reserve for the CI FOM hence weighing/newspaper pic.
Lots of little fish including some bream plus all the usual crabs, cuttles, squid etc were seen and as always it was great fun. Good to be alive - again - and a feed to take home. What more could a person want?

I went for a dive last night - in on the falling tide so no big hopes. it was like a desert with very little happening - small sole, squids and a cuttle, all left for the future.

What a blast night night. Quite a long one. Turned into quite an epic about half way round. We were on a headland and as the tide was falling our possible shortcuts were drying out. Out on the end there was quite a swell which made things a bit interesting - especially when your buddy is feeling ill!
Once we started heading in things got very fishy and turned up G's 6lber, and a 3.5lb bass and 1.5lb red mullet for me. We saw a load of other bass but wer on a timescale to get back in
Saw a few baby cuttles (always v cute) and a little sole but the highlight oddity was what I think was a Rockling. Very pretty.

Well done chaps, good to see people getting in again now its clearing a bit and getting some fish as well. I was out mooching around the Brehon tower today and it looked pretty good out there.

At last....
Have been really busy over the last couple of months, but tomorrow am in for a mega session over the low tide (11 till 4?). Might have a look see at the back of the sharp place. Also alarm set for 3:00am tomorrow morning
