LOL !!
Yes, apparently, they are good eating. When the fish dies the muscles that produce the electricity (up to 250V!) naturally cease to function.
Must be a bit weird - the thought of eating electricity producing meat!!? If I see one again, I'd certainly be tempted to shoot it, but ... even then!!?!?!
I've seen a few ELECTRICS...usually buried,as already mentioned by OMD,and they can initially be mistaken for a more desirable flattie,as can a buried cuttle .
If provoked the beast tends to rise up out of the sand in a backward somersault movement, presumably to administer a 'shock' (in more than one sense) to either enemy or prey. It seems there are about 70 species world wide but I'm pretty sure the local ones are inedible.
On first sighting a STING RAY I thought, from the surface in Rocquaine, that the round dark object was a dumped car wheel, but changed my mind on closer examination! I subsequently saw one in in North Beach (Herm) and another in Port Grat...that was it...so they're not exactly common inshore.
QUESTION: What would predate an electric ray!?
