jks, I am sure they do but, you Jersey folk just don't post regularly enough.
I think there must be 20 Jersey guys who post on deeper blue but we only get about 5 post a year!

Foxy, just a gentle suggestion, but if this thread was titled "Channel Islands 2010" instead of 'Guernsey 2010' it might encourage more posting from the other islands, no one really wants to post on a dead thread. perhaps food for thought for next year (please). I would love to hear more from the Jersey spearos - lots to learn from over there...

I had a short trip to alderney today, what a fantastic (work) trip - i love the blue island 8 seater aircraft! I was given a brief tour of the island which was great - lots of spearo potential there methinks, especially on the west side, maybe a 'Holiday Alderney' trip next year...

I am on the case jonny......
Only a few years ago, our Guernsey thread was the most active thread on db!
Then we had a year of terrible weather followed by 12 moths of terrible vis.
This year the vis & weather has returned to normal but folk seem to have wondered away!
I used to push this thread along & of course Dave was always catching or at least trying, however I just cant find the time nowadays due to other forum commitments.
We still have Jonny of course but, I just hope next year we will see a revival?
Due to a whole series of events I have only dived 4 times this year & I am unlikely to go again this year!
However - in the true spirit of my brother - lets see some more action next year :friday

Afraid I'm one of those who often reads, and enjoys, this forum but doesn't often post!

So, I went in off the west coast (of Gsy) on Friday afternoon just after low water and the visibility was really good. Didn’t take my gun with me (I enjoy looking at the wildlife as much as catching it, and sometimes see much more when I’m not concentrating on hunting). I saw a decent sized bass, ormers, a lobster and a conger. A very pleasant couple of hours in the water.

Hope yesterdays wind hasn’t effected the visibility too much.

well done for getting in! it looked pretty good and i was hoping to get in on friday night, but it didnt happen...

Ref the camera setup, i personally use a canon G9 with canon housing, but other people seem to have good success with other cameras. for video i dont think you need quite such a spec.
I looked into gopro Hd cameras at one point but for what we do, i dont rate them that high. picture quality with the lens correction bodge may be ok, but in terms of useability they dont do it for me!
Magpie has a different camera and might provide more insight...

I use a Panasonic something or other, in my limited experience I've had better video quality out of panasonic than other brands.

But really any reasonable digital camera will do more than respectable videos these days, so as long as you can get a waterproof housing you can't go to far wrong.

I wouldn't be tempted by one of the waterproof standard size models as with gloves on the buttons on them are pretty much inoperable, and I found the video quality terrible in the one I had, but that would be model specific.
