do your research on the camera for uw use as its a whole new game..

I just had a good hol in Malta, crystal water and 35 knots of wind!!! saw a massive octopus - and several good size fish, defo a fishy hotspot!!!
dived with bubble blowers who seemed somewhat nonplussed to see me! they were doing deco whilst i was doing loops

ahh liking the pics dude always interested in other peoples work, and its nice to meet someone who is interested in photography and underwater, like me. Many of my mates are not interested in the same stuff and can get kinda annoying, being from such a small island and that....

Jealous of your holiday, I really want to go away somewhere with clear water and lots of fish, havent been on a hot holiday since i was 10 and I was too young to do propper snorkelling and that, could hold my breath for 10 seconds back then, want to go on a holiday with some mates and give it a go!

I feel the same about the weather, very annoying! really want to get out there to try out the spear gun propperly! and defo need to buy some propper torches for some night snorkels, any ideas on brands and that for cheap decent underwater torches? (broke student)

Yeah i got in yesterday too, my first shore dive since Yeti was over here i think!
vis was ok on the bottom. i was prodding a few lumps and bumps looking for signs of life, and found a tiny sole - only about 6" long. the lump i was poking was about 2ft accross so i thought my chips were in when part of it moved lol
The new wetsuit is ok, not sure how warm it is after the black shadow [not so warm], but its very extremely flexible and takes all of 40 seconds to put on, no lube

SWT I have a small waterproof LED torch you can have for free!
Not that brilliant but it is what we stated off using....
PS it is new & still wrapped in plastic.

Dive torch wise you've been given a range of options below.

The frogman is reliable but the output is pitiful compared to modern lights. More of a scuba torch for looking in holes than a main dive light for night diving.

The Princetontec is fairly bomb proof and long lasting, get that if you want something that'll work and no messing.

The DX lights are smaller, brighter and cheaper. BUT, there is a risk buying from them. The lights are not 100% reliable. Some have leaked, mainly due to an oversized battery spring (it was made this way as the 16850 batteries it runs on vary in length depending whether they have a protection circuit on board or not, so the long spring is needed to allow some leeway).

This spring can be trimmed easily enough. The problem with the SST-50 light Spirit linked is runtime, you'll be lucky to get an hour at full power, regardless of the specs on the site. DX is, errr, fairly creative with it's specifications.

The P7 will be better, but the MC-E version will last even longer and you won't notice the difference in output. You should get 2hrs out of the MC-E. You can get higher capacity batteries than come with these lights but dont be conned by any that claim to be more than 3000mah, they simply won't be.

The other issue is it'll be at least a month before they turn up, and can be a lot longer. I've ordered loads of things from DX as I build my own dive lights and they're good for cheap parts, but I have waited up to 6 months for things to show up.

And then there's Foxfish's, which is free, and you can't quibble with that.

I went for the Elios Blue Reef Camo lycra outer with 'super elastic lining inner'. They sent a Camo Reef (bright orange!) but otherwise as per spec. 5mm. I just would love for them to take a look at an Xcel wetsuit! My Black shadow started to fall apart so they offered me a replacement at a discount [not worth fighting over imo!].

sold my SUP, so thinking about a replacement towable boat...
