Well we have got a few of our Jersey friends coming over for a friendly fish-in.
Can we come up with a few ideas about what we want to do over the two days & if Mike can give us the details about numbers we can try & get things arranged.
I think the guys would like to have a mini competition - perhaps a £5 a head winner takes all?
First up though who is interested in joining in?
PS any English guys would be welcome for the weekend or just a day trip perhaps...

i had a chat with JerseyMike and he thinks there might be about 6 of the Jersey spearos coming over and it would be great to meet and share a beer/curry with them - probably on the Friday night.
so count me in - it will be good to meet more like minded folks and hopefully learn a thing or two...
One suggestion is that we have a start time and a finish weigh-in time and to start at a specific location. if you're not able to fish or do a long session, then you can still meeet for the weigh-in, followed by drinkies and food...
personally i would like to see a flatty and a 'round fish' 'trophy' [wooden spoon]? but bearing in mind its just for fun
Any other ideas? who's up for this?
Anyhow - I still think we are lucky to live in this island - we have just come back from the second castle night, fantastic free entertainment.
We were entertained by GU10 (far better than Port Isaac's Fisherman's Friends) & the "Wesley stones" (best hickabilly band around) all for free in an historic castle.

Good night dive very close to my house looking for bream.
Found one - not a Gilthead but a two banded bream (diplodus vulgaris - First record of a two-banded sea bream, Diplodus vulgaris, in Guernsey waters at Sustainable Guernsey)
About a third smaller than that one and I watched it swim around a little and then away. Little beauty.
Spotted a handful of small sole (took a medium one home with me) and plenty of small and medium sized plaice.
Also plenty of eels - beautiful bronze colour but a bit writhy for my liking. Alot of baby bass too - was on the look out for a medium sized one but all babies.
Very clear and warm - 3mm wetsuit again for an hour and half. Nice dive.

flew back home for the week to see my folks and collect some info for a project. said my hello's had a very large lunch, then set about assembling some make shift spishing kit. Found my old beauchat 75 in the garage, had to replace the string, wishbone and bands with bits salvaged from friends old weapons, and then headed down the west coast.
I was a little apprehensive about the viz due to the ~20mph onshore, but got in and the viz was great. I've dived around the gower a couple of times this year and the viz has been 1-3m, yesterday was nothing like that.
You guys are very lucky to have good viz on your door step, I allways used to take it for granted. In the space of 3 hours I found a dozen or so lobsters, but didn't take any, (I want trophy lobbs 3lb+) saw a shoal of 100 plus black bream, which I chased around in circles for about half an hour, ( its very difficult to sight on fish in a school). I also found my self chilling in numerous balls of roslett, one of which got ambushed by a shoal of little jack bass, which prooved great to watch, (wish I had a video camera). Saw numerous schoolie bass, but nothing I wanted to shoot, up until I was about to get out, when a golden grey ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time=hole in the head, grilled with thai chill/curry paste rubbed in, and doused in lime juice

Tom - 100% sure it was a two banded bream - I've compared the images of the white bream and the two banded - def two banded. Pretty little fish - not as small as the white bream you see around - more like the size of a hand but slightly smaller than a foot (to go by international fish size comparison objects...). Clear as gin, you should have come

reason I'm posting this here is cos most of the folk i know are on here or the North Wales forum! and are going to be subjected to me whinging about not being able to go fishing! :-( I suppose now is not the time to ask her if I can go to the 'fish-in' :martial:crutch :blackeye
