Mart, I used a different [higher acholhol] yeast, so more sugar going in to feed the yeast. I had to top up the yeast a couple of times with additional sugar/water solution until the yeast stopped fermenting.

We used to have a border collie when we lived in Plymouth and he used to join us for trips up onto Dartmoor for blackberry picking sessions, we used to get carrier bags full of blackberries to freeze for future use

I have made 11 gallons of OMD cider this year, I have double fermented 4 of them with an extra 1lb of sugar per gal, that should give about 6.5-7%.
I am making up 2 gallons of Cider champagne & the other 5 will be standard 5% slightly fizzy stuff - I hope

Yeah thats a classic video Andy, personally i'd rather acheive less and enjoy it more the look on her face near the end eh!!

I went in for a lunchtime dip today, with a howling offshore wind and more swell than i'd care for... vis non existant on the top, adequate in the middle and non-existant at the bottom!
Anyway i managed a bass around 3lb and left mullet and a nice fat pollack; there for another day I was glad to have the reel fitted, because the spear ended up in the weed and i'm not sure i'd have found it again if i had to surface then dive again.
I didnt find the bream that i'd really have liked out over the gravel, but apparently they're off to warmer climes now...

I am fairly sure the Giltheads stay around for another month, black bream stay until late December.

In again this afternoon, the water has calmed down nicely. I saw bass, mullets and pollacks, plus a couple of clonker rwasse but they all got a reprieve as I didn't feel the need to shoot!
Tomorrow is looking good, with the wind easing and a big ole tide... Kayak session maybe...

Haha, I worked hard all morning!
The joy of being self employed means I do get a bit of flexibility when work, but also the sea is only a few yards away so a lunch break can be taken in the oggin...

Vis was awful. Hopped in, hoping to find something nosing about beyond the breakers but couldn't see further than the end of my spear. Got jealous about my buddies torch. LED Lenser now on christmas list. After todays swell might be a while before its clear again...

Open the champagne, it look like after years of the English fishing fleet destroying our locale stocks (GGGRRRRR) we are getting our 12 mile limit back :thankyou
I guess it will take years & years to undo the damage & some species like our scallops might never recover but it is a step in the right direction.
Perhaps we might see more bream plaice & bass next year.....

Good news indeed, but it still needs the legislation to be drafted, approved by all (including the cr*pauds), and and approved by the privy council, before anything is in place.

If it's in force this time next year I'll be very surprised.

You're more pessimistic tham me Tom, and that takes some doing!! But I have to agree. The Cr@pauds won't take this lightly at all so they will need to be factored in through a licencing system of some sort. I hope those in charge are sensible enough to involve everyone or get dragged back to stage one through the courts again.

Some interestign comments on that page Mart. I had heard form the Jersey anglers when I was over there for the bass fesitval that the whole fuss is being caused by one bloke getting everyone wound up.

Why can't they catch their own fish and leave our alone. There's a darn sight more bass over there than here!! Probably as they come here and catch ours!!
