Great evening down at one of the local spots, although it was the opposite to what Jonny was seeing. Not great vis and not a lot seen apart from a Mullet in the shallows when pegging back from the dreaded mist, that came in super fast. Seaweed and I directed a lost boat who came in a bit to close for our liking, hopefully he made it back to Cobo with his little boy OK. Seaweed bagged a lobby so wasn't all in vain. Nice night though despite the lack of fish, im going to the part of the island next where Jonny and Little Sarge go....and Mart

Caught a 2.5lb mullet yesterday and a 4lb mullet today. Both for the bbq.

Great to see some new blood on the thread posting dive reports. Keep up the good work chaps.

Reports of good viz sent me out on SWI at lunchtime but the east coast was still clearly cloudy. Oddly some of the west looked good and some of it didn't, which matches with the reports coming in. Unfortunately this weekend may put paid to anything decent for a bit, but it's good to hear its settling from the winter.

May even have to get in sometime if the latest broken bits of body ever sort themselves out.

I would think the most effective way would be a crippled live sand eel (cut off its tail) but that would be a bit barbaric for me!
Perhaps a wriggly rag worm might work?
We had 9 bass on the boat rods this morning kept one of 7lb

I was thinking about a half mackerel... if i go for the new gopro next year that will be my goal, to hand feed a bass on camera...

I agree with yeti , cold steel!
However in terms of edibility marts probably right, sandeels dead or immobilised , it's going to take a lot of persistence. In my experience schoolies are the most curious so half a mackerel may be too big and of less interest to them?

I know this is a bit random but do your little ferrets sniff out crabs? Foxfish? Martyn?

Why have you got crabs?
They have been on the beach once or twice but more likely to sniff out a mouse than a crab.
As it happens we only have one left now & she is pretty old!

Yes I have a serious crab problem!one escaped in the car it's now dead by the smell in the dashboard !OMG does it stink!Help!the miss is going to castrate me!

Hi All,

I'm back on the rock for the week with a couple of friends and I've promised some spider crabs, the west side of Pembroke used to be good for a couple but I couldn't find any yesterday. Any other spots I could try? Thanks.

Crab wells between port Soif and Grand roque is normally pretty good, or was a few weeks ago, not sure what's still around now.

We just had an earth quake in Guernsey!!!!
My crab potting mate just bought me a few lobsters, he had a huge gilthead bream on a long line set in the tide outside Port gratt a few days ago!
He will get the weight at the end of the month from the wholesaler but he reckons around 8-9lb.

I was told a horrendous sorry this morning!
Well horrendous to my ears anyway!
Apparently there is a French long liner who works mid channel, he sets thousands of hooks baited with cuttle.
The boat has automated mortised equipment that baits the hooks etc but the really horrific part is any whole conger that are caught has the last quarter of its body cut off & is thrown back into the sea alive!
They have discovered that the congers can actually survive & although they can not generate a new tail they grow into fat stumpy congers that in turn can be caught again!
