Thanks for the advice. Where did you get the mask torch? I take It you use the mask torch as back up also?

I could not get on with a torch on my mask so use a head torch instead. Everyone is different and you will have to see what works best for you. They have a good selection at the dive bunker and also stock the mask and head torches at a reasonable price.

Cheers Kerin I have just put the phone down to dive centre and also donkey divers. I will go to dive bunka tomorrow to have a look. Thanks for advice mate

depending how adventurous you are - you may want to get a compass too... i find it very useful at night and also on low-vis days to stop me swimming round in circles

Wow I just seen how much they are Spirit. I know from my diving days they are not cheap but I am not looking over £100 I will go and have a chat with Liz. Thanks mate

I also have a torch like spirit and you pay for what you get! They are a great piece of kit. Always works out cheaper in the long run buying good quality gear , I found that out more than once.

I know mate but I dont plan on night diving that much so find it difficult to justify £160 plus you can pay over £400 for a torch. I also need 2 as I want a backup torch. Donkey divers have a sporasub which divers use as a primary torch aswell for £60. I will keep looking and also go and see Liz at dive centre. I use a mini q40 eLed. Brilliant little torch that I often use as my main light.
Compass - I've carried one for years but never used it in anger.......until I found myself past the point of the knife and the streetlights went off. Without it I would have been (more) confused and maybe still swimming around in circles.

Haha, oh yes been there...
but i've also been carefully following my compass ... heading out to sea... before i realised i was 180 degrees out lol

For sure.
I'd be very surprised if no one else has an encounter at night in the Knife area. It just seems ideal habitat for them and close to deep tidal water.
