[QUOTwatched gpie, post: 936439, member: 7678"]Not entirely sure what this "handle loader" is but if you need it to load 16s you're doing something wrong. Anyone can load 16s without any major fuss, doesn't matter how strong you are or aren't, but sometimes beginners struggle if they're not sure about it. Couple of blokes I know have said their new guns were unloadable, until I showed them it was easy (and Geoff Capes I am not) and all of a sudden they could do it themselves. You've just got to believe!

Trying having a look on youtube for speargun loading vids maybe?[/QUOTE]
Just watched vids on youtube I will try like they show tomorrow. Thanks Magpie

That's probably your problem, 200mm bands are pretty short, suited to a 70 maybe. Yours sounds more like a 90 from its overall length, 25-26cm would be more suitable probably, they'd give you both more power and easier loading.

Yes I think thats it and loading technique too mate. I still have the old bands and I will have a play today and see how I get on. Thanks for your advice mate

Interesting as 16mm bands should be like pulling back a kids catapult LOL

If you read this, you will see the gun is not suitable for twin bands but looks like it came with a 19 mm band.

Haha Mart I will pop the catapult round for you to have a bash :) ive saw that link yesterday mate but it cant because this stupid loading thing it came with only allows 16mm thickness through it so they were def 16mm. Ive taken the loading thing off it now and I can just load it as they show on youtube but like you said I reckon it would be better with thicker bands. Mart do you want any spare parts for spearguns lol

Sorry guys hate to break it to you but the next 3-4 days are going to have some beautiful ground swell, not massive but 2-5ft with a big period 15-18 sec so whilst the surfs going to fire the flaties may not be so abundant. Am in jersey this weekend and the surfs set to be awsome tomorrow.

Just spoken to the boss man and placed my order Jonny :)

Great afternoon in the water with Jonny and Matt.
No guns just practicing drops and breath holds. It's really surprising how quickly you can improve.
Interesting watching Jonny with his mono fin and also having a whirl with it. Scollies for tea too. :)

Went in today knowing the vis wasnt going to be great so practiced breath holds again going to 7m and finding I can stay on the bottom longer and longer. Left my cousin on the surface who came out with 2 mullet one was 5lb 4. Gave me the smaller one to try as never tried it before. Might go in again tomorrow after work for another practice its nice when you start seeing progress :)

well done rockie.
So a bit more info; we went in on the east coast with the usual walk down from St Martins point car park. from the cliffs the vis looked good, but in the water it was only the last 2m above the bottom that was clear. it was good fun and i knew i was going to have a hard time swimming out with the monofin - it was hard! once out i had horrendous cramps as the footpockets felt pretty tight [i dont use the monofin very often]. got over it after the first hour and settled into some drops. There was quite a lot to see over the sand and gravel - a nice chancre, cuttle fish and the plaice, plus a few scollies to take back.
I had intentionally left my weight vest in the car and was using my ankle weights on the end of my float line as a marker, so only had 4kg on the belt altogether, but even so, the monofin is like rocket-propelled compared to bifins and i was hitting the bottom super fast, but also using too much energy on the way down, so breathholds werent good. i need a lot more practice with it !!!
it was a good day and good company.
There's a lot more adventures to be had in that area - we need to get the kayaks sorted out... :)

Went mackerelling on the East coast this afternoon. When I pulled up a string, a porbeagle at least 6ft long followed it up and made a lunge for the fish on the surface. My mate saw the tail over the gunwale as it flipped out of the water. I stood there astounded, fish dangling above the water and it came for a second go, leapt out of the water and grabbed a mackerel and swam off, still attached to my line. Had it on the line for about 5 seconds before the hook was cut off cleanly.

Talk about the one that got away!

Wow must have been amazing to see! If you don't mind me asking where abouts were you? Jonny might be interested to hear this as he surfaced from a drop having seen something big and thought it was me or Matt, but we were both on the surface chatting.
