It was very nce to meet up with Liitle S and Fro this afternoon; i had driven to Doyle to check it out for some drops but the white caps put paid to that idea...
headed down to a more southern spot to meet the others and had a nice long walk to find the water...
managed to find some shelter from the wind and then realised it was Very fishy
first bass seen before i had loaded the gun.
Saw quite a few more and settled on a nice one to bring home.

Nice swim with Fro and Jonny today. Well done to Fro on a rare catch and to Jonny with a decent bass. Viz was patchy but nice over the sand. I managed a 3lb 5oz bass and a garfish. Saw quite abit around so all in all a nice swim. Hope this wind buggers off or drops as I want to go scollie hunting tomorrow.
What ever it is it's got some serious teeth, didn't fancy putting my hand in there so while I was clinging on for dear life LS popped a stringer through the gills, spear was well in but didn't want to risk it, def appreciative of the assist
Yeah I was abit worried when you started shouting at me, thought you were in trouble! Noticed the big nashers when I was feeding the stringer through its mouth. Nice fish

Its either a sea salmon or sea trout I think but If you took it to Rik at tackle direct he would tell you for sure. Not sure if fish of the month has to be line caught you may get something for it too
Looks like a salmon to me, although difficult to tell from the pic but it appears to have few) no spots below lateral line.
Salmon or sea trout, doesn't really matter it will be lovely eating.

Wow! Well done John. I think Andy R saw what he thought was a large salmon near the knife some years ago, but never got a shot off to find out! That was a nice sized one by Ed also. Do we still have FOM?

Another nice long swim with Jonny today. Same place as yesterday and the viz was as we expected patchy again. We definately didn't see as much as yesterday though! I lined up on a few small but legal bass but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger, saw plenty of big mullet and a few gar too. Jonny on the other hand found a nice 8lb bass and got straight to the point. Well done again Jonny. Hopefully he will post up the video too.
I spent 1.5 hours searching for flatfish, lost my inherited, titanium knife that was my brothers but I did find a single 2lb plaice.
I also saw a dead plaice of about the same size, it looked 'fresh dead' & had am army of whelks eating it, most peculiar!

As Little S has said, we had a good swim, nothing like as fishy as yesterday, but got lucky again. it felt like a long shot but i wasnt going to let this beauty swim away!
This one is really clean with none of those parasites that i have found in previous bigger basses.
i will try and get the video footage sorted laters...

Shame about the knife Mart, but if it's in one of the normal areas one of us may stumble on it yet.
Lovely fish Jonny, clearly some quality and variety out there at the moment. Shame I'm out of the water for two weeks having had laser eyes fitted yesterday.
