ah well, thick fog came in when i was half rigged, fortunately hadnt put on the wetsuit yet.

Soooo... tomorrow we're going to meet at the Doyle monument car park for a trip down via bec du nez.
Anyone wanting to join us is welcome - meeting at the car park at 9:30. Need a float and no guns.

Well I went in before the fog this morning and the water was crystal clear. Stuck my head up after getting a 5lb mullet and a 3lb and couldn't see Guernsey. Luckily I had my compass and headed in after an hour. Saw 4 bass in total and my first John Dorey about thd same size as my hand streched out. Made my day oh PS Jonny I tried to get the bass in the head but managed to get my first ever tail shot

Well up for this Jonny would be good to meet others on the forum and also have safety cover when doing deeper drops. Managing 1'40 secs walking apnea but still only 30-40 secs in the water! See you In the morning mate Kerins got my number. Thanks Chris

Went in as the fog was kinda clearing, but decided to take the reef route along the rocks just in case. Saw a longnose play at the end of my spear but he was a little thin and perhaps a little small so left that, tons of massive rockies around, no bass and very little mullet. Did some drops around 7 meters, ears equalising better but only about 40 seconds on the bottom, did a bit of foraging around but very little to see. The CO2 tables are helping and I was more relaxed today, just didn't push it at all.
When searching around for Lobbies, is there a certain minimum depth to find them in, or any? I haven't got a torch so better get one of those
Mullet for tea again but happy to get some target practice and get in the water!

I'll meet up tomorrow if I get a pass from the Mrs, she's let me out today and we have a load of kids on a sleepover, so might be jumping from my house into the water by tomorrow morning

if you have a catch bag, that will be useful, hopefuly...

Lobsters live mainly on the bottom part of reefs in any depth below the low water mark but if you are diving 20' deep over steep sided reef (on low water) you can find them anywhere on the reef if there is a suitable home for them.
Part the kelp to find holes or even turn large stones to find them.
It is a bit like flatfish, once you find a few you know what to look for...

Yes got a catch bag. Its better than how I normally do it on my own mate, looking forward to it, see you in the morning

Thanks Mart, is a hook necessary or just go with using an unloaded gun to to get them out and then grab?

Just depends on the situation, I have tried using a grab handle like the road sweepers use to pick up rubbish paper but at the end of the day I just leave difficult ones & look for another one.
Very often you can just grab it with a gloved hand .. cant say I can remember ever being badly pinched by one, just the odd nip!

Got a 5ft long stainless hook made up, completely blunt, all u do is prod them to manhuver them out or poke them in the face until they leave, watch out for the
Congers though often in the same hole

Cheers for the info, where's the best place to get a hook made up?

I remember very well your conger tale of the biggest head and eyes you'd ever seen, will be a big consideration when I go looking

Yep me, Jonny and Rockie ventured down to east coast to look for scollies. Was pretty rough with that north easterly blowing but a good walk and swim nether the less. Lots and lots of empty shells so I am guessing the bubble blowers have been hitting the area hard. Vis was ok on the bottom a bit patchy in places! I think the deepest drop of the day was only in about 10m as we were a bit wary of a few boats hanging around which no doubt had divers down. A few scollies taken and all in all a nice trip.

Ps - I am sure Jonny will no doubt have some excellent video footage

Don't honestly know! unless they shuck them on land and then dump the shells. Certainly a lot of empty shells there and all in one place too. Last time at same location there was also a pile but not in the same place.
