We've had a bad earthquake here where I'm living back in November 2004. Even if in the North of the country homes are generally built more solid than in the South, it destroyed 2 thousands homes and dozens of ancient churches in the towns around.
It was moments of pure terror: it happened late at night and we had to run out barefoot. My wife was 7 months pregnant at that time and you can imagine the fear we felt for the baby: I can't express with words. We've been lucky so far.
