I'm 13 and am relatively new to freediving. I can hold my breath for a minute and a half but can't get much further past that. Does anyone know any exercises that actually help and any exercises to calm down and lower the heart rate. I am also interested in spearfishing so does anyone know any particular laws or anything that prohibits spearfishing for spearfishing in North-East UK, thanks.

Welcome! Glad to see someone who is young and wanting to learn. I would recommend trying yoga to expand your lung capacity as well as train your mind and body to relax.

Mental strength is key for breath holds and yoga will help you lower your heart rate while physically exerting yourself. Try an app on your phone and go get a mat too see if it is something that would agree with you.
