It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Twenty something quid for the Cotils - nice views and a good service I'm told (if you can take that sort of thing first thing on a Sunday ) Might be able to get a discount as know someone who will be working there from tomorrow Don't think they have a licence....

Cheers for the heads up Foxfish, will consult my diary but think its liable to clash with my annual trip to Cornwall, not that that would usually be an issue but this year my spearo uncle is coming over from NZ to join me! If i cant make it will have to do a trip of my own at a later date.

Oh and thought you might like this pic too... (Not me in the photo) Took a team effort to retrieve this beastie and a lot of arguing over who was gonna have it snapping near their toes on the boat. I lost that one but gave it the anchor chain to play with, lol

"Dang" that is a big guy! either that or your mate is a midget?

No he aint no midget. The spot this came from regularly has another in, definately same size if not bigger... and that beastie isn't the only one that size range to come out of there, although he was the first. Was definately a big boy in there end of last year, not checked yet this year to see if he is still home. Will accept bids by PM to divulge the location... lol

That is a big un, anybody have a clue how old something like that might be?
I thought I read somewhere that after they get to a certain size they’re not so sweet to eat?

No pic in the shop was another one from the same spot, about a year later. I'll gladly dispel the myth that they are not as nice to eat when big.. that one was yummy.. although cooking it was a challenge. Think its a vicious lie spread by people who cant afford to purchase giant lobsters. As I said the 'spot' has one in of that size or bigger every year, between us me and Titus have only ever taken three that one (the first) then Titus had one about a year later and I had one at the end of the same year. I'll see if I have a pic.... Oh and the one in the pic above is missing a large chunk of claw and had some crush/puncture marks on both claws and its body.. whatever did that must have been huge!!!

Hopefully off for a little dive expedition with Titus this weekend... have to top up the freezer!

I have been experimenting with different ways of cooking lobster in readiness for our lobster fest.
Here I have par boiled the lobsters for a few mins removed the flesh & coated with a garlic, tarragon & Sark butter mix. I then replaced the tails in the shells & roaster them for a few more mins over a oak fire. Seems to work very well

Ciao Marco and Lora! Hope you guys are well and definitely hope to see you in Guernsey! Have been reading books on how to delay birth...roflrofl

Foxy et al, I will move hell and high water to be there!

Well, we had another little trial for the big "August fish-in feast"! as forum member, Ben Ford, popped over to Guernsey for a few days to help his partner Helenka settle in to her new Guernsey based job.
Short notice but we had a bit of fun in the fire house!!!
(Ben doesn't drink alcohol but I do, so excuse my drunken state & uneven suntan not sure about Ben's excuse?)

Wow! That is a sweet entertainment/chill out/bbq etc area Foxy. Is that a washing machine drum fire pit? Genius!

It sure is - I think it should be patented. Also a good example of recycling.

Mart, I never noticed alcohol giving me an uneven tan!rofl
