hi andersn

yeah we were doing our exercises here... it was recommended by one of our instructors, that we should make sure we do them so that when the time comes we can bend over and kiss our a*se goodbye!

we suffered some heavy storms, but no damage to the dive shop fortunately... we actually packed everything up and boarded up the windows just in case.

still getting heavy winds and strong waves, actually if you remember turtle reef, the waves are actually coming up to the car park right now... soo..... no diving at mo'!

it's pretty quiet here and only a couple of boat divers. time to clean up the shop, study and reflect... make the most of relaxation time before the high season starts!

look forward to seeing you down here again... why not come during pirates week in October?

take care
S-L

I seen the sat photo today on the storm. Scarry. Becarefull to u all out there. My house was flooded to dinner table height early this year for 5 days, terrible-terrible.

Besafe and sure to post when all over so we know u r all ok.

Here it comes...just made its north turn and is headed our way! No doubt it will become a strong hurricane once again. Looks like we will start moving boats up the river on Wed. Even a hit to texas leaves me on the bad side of the storm(southeast side holds most of the wind and rain:( ) Seas hee are already 10ft as they have traveled all the way from Mexico...15-20 ft. by the weekend...anyone want to come diving?:DProbably be gone on the boat for a little while...

Yeah...but what about the next storm (TD #13?) forming in the "alley" right now...man this sucks!

I was thinking about going to Mobile, AL one of the next two weekends to visit my dad, and do some fishing/diving....I think I'll pass. Then again, if I stay home...it would be my luck to get drilled by Hurricane Kyle. How's Nebraska this time of year?

Rigdvr, u okay?

Rigdvr,
How are you? What kind of damage in your area? We were lucky, all we got was high waves and tide, which caused a little coastal flooding, but not much. Actually we were very lucky, because our rivers were already above flood stage from two earlier rain storms, some over a 100 year high, and just a few inches of rain would cause a lot of damage.

The gulf here is already smoothed out with only 2.6’ waves this morning that have a DPD of 10 seconds, so it’s very good. I have been planning on going Sunday all week, but the wind was almost none existence last night (Thursday) and they have changed the forecast to Saturday being the better day, so I guess I’m going tomorrow. Don’t know what the current will be like or where the blue water will be. I’m little worried about those because we still have a high tide on the coast so if all that water starts moving back, it could create quite a current, but Lili is forecasted to go into the Gulf on Wednesday, so if the waves are small this weekend, I got to go while I can.

Well...I made it! Just brought the boats back around today...that was a long 4 days! We got some good damage to the area, some of the waterfront casinos got beat bad...some boats went down, ect. The storm surge here was over 13 ft and we had waves over 18 so anyway Im glad to be home...

Sounds bad. I can remember too well how tiring and disruptive preparing, backing up and leaving is. Texas, once again was very lucky. We have the lowest percent of hurricane hits on the Gulf, especially this time of year when we are starting to get a few northern fronts. The northerners tend to take the hurricanes straight north or northeast into Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabaman, and Florida.

It was a little hard to find some blue water yesterday, but the set of rigs, that have blue water more time than any others, held true again. My wife caught several snapper, including a monster 22 pounder, and I speared 4 barracuda plus a gray snapper. Back at the docks people were real impressed. They all said they couldn’t find any blue water. I’m friendly but not real informative.

Lili sounds like it has weakened and won’t enter the gulf for several days, if at all. Hope you and everyone else gets some good hunting soon.
Don

Hope I get to go hunting but I just finished cleaning the boats I take care of and now I have to find a way to fuel them up in case lilly decides to head our way...we lost the fuel docks at the two closest marinas. I also have a couple of charter trips this week...gotta pay the rent! Time to clean the yard as well. My evacuations arent that bad Don, we take all the big private and charter boats 2 hours up the river and into a man made slew where we tie to and across the banks. Once thats done some of us stay(I stay on Dads 60 ft. hatteras with sat. tv) and have a good time. We move the party from boat to boat and it is like a grown mans retreat...our "good" reason to take a break from the wives! Just the actual move that sucks.

Lilly

Just got the latest computer models for Lilly. Don it seems we will split the difference...but you will be on the good side again! Calling for landfall near New Orleans as a category 2 hurricane late this week to early next. Hope to go out before then!
